Muklawa – CAC Clash: Sargun Mehta Takes It Sportingly, Dances On “Kala Suit”

In one of the best “savage” moments on the internet yesterday, Punjab’s one of the most loved heroines Sargun Mehta proved in a really cute yet sporting manner that even though her (Chandigarh Amritsar Chandigarh) and Ammy Virk’s (Muklawa) movies may be clashing head-on on May 24, yet they are the best buddies nevertheless. Sargun and Ammy have already rocked together in Qismat earlier.

Sargun and Ammy have already rocked together in Qismat earlier.

It so happened that the day before yesterday, Ammy Virk’s Muklawa (Releasing on May 24) had its song “Kala Suit” rolled out in which Ammy is seen in a romantic fervor with film’s heroine Sonam Bajwa. The song is tremendously loved by the audience but the highlight of the day was when Sargun Mehta, who is starring in another film (releasing on May 24 itself) with Gippy Grewal as her co-star posted of video of hers dancing on Muklawa’s song.

In what may be called as the most graceful gesture by the leading lady, the video has been received really well by both the movie’s starcast and makers, not to mention the fans of both the stars.

Have a look at the video below shared by Gunbir Singh Sidhu (One of Muklawa’s producers himself):

In the video Sidhu thanked Sargun for posting the video saying “Thanks a million to Sargun Mehta for dancing to the tune of #kalasuit , the first song of movie #muklawa which was released recently. Muklawa releases on 24th May.”

Meanwhile, Sargun Mehta’s Chandigarh Amritsar Chandigarh releases on May 24 too in which she’ll be paired for the first time with Gippy Grewal.

15 Lakh Kado Aauga (Trailer): A Satire On False Promises And Social Gullibility

Frriday Russh Motion Pictures led by Rrupaali Gupta, is one production house that’s known for churning out films that are always “hatke”! Be it Punjab’s first gender-change comedy (Mr and Mrs 420 series) or a family entertainer with a strong social message (Uda Aida), this production house has always served our audience with something new.

Now walking on the same lines, Rrupaali Gupta with her team is all set to present us “15 Lakh Kado Aauga”- the trailer of which was released just a few days ago. Starring Ravinder Grewal and Pooja Verma in the lead, the film’s title and teaser already suggested what theme it is based on and the trailer, more or less, confirmed the same.

The trailer shows how an almost good-for-nothing man dabbles in various professions, lying to his family constantly just to earn some easy moolah. One fine day though he realises that being a ‘Godman’ is a highly prolific “business” considering how vulnerable Indian public, usually is. So as he begins his new work, he also becomes acquainted with one of our politician’s alleged promise of crediting every Indian with Rs 15 lakh, once his party comes to power! Hence ensues a series of comic events making “15 Lakh Kadon Aauga” a promising socio-satirical drama.

Directed by Manpreet Brar, 15 Lakh Kadon Aauga hits the theatres this Election season only (10th May 2019). Prior to its trailer, a song of the movie – ‘Hath Tight Da’ was also released. Enjoy the track here:

‘Muklawa’ Trailer: Story Of The Time When A Husband Wasn’t Allowed To Meet His Own Wife

Simple, warm and so very fresh despite being a period drama – that’s the feeling I get after watching the trailer of Muklawa, a film releasing on May 24 starring Ammy Virk and Sonam Bajwa in the lead. It is produced by renowned production house, Whitehill Studios and directed by Simerjit Singh.

Watch the trailer and read our review below:
One look at the trailer and you’re sure to fall in love with the innocence of people of the bygone era when relationships were regarded as sacred and pious, and everything, inlcluding a husband-wife relationship needed a proper “sanction” from the society! So, in those times mere a marriage ceremony wasn’t enough to cement the nuptial bond, an elaborate ritual of ‘Muklawa’ needed to be performed as well which meant husband/wife living apart from each other despite being “officially” married.

Even nowadays this ceremony is held but right after the wedding day itself, pretty short waiting time as compared to one full year in those times!

Now talking things from cinematic perspective, Muklawa’s trailer succeedingly leaves an impact on us owing to its fresh storyline. Without being too loud, the trailer manages to convey that you can expect this film to be a healthy mix of light-hearted humour and emotions. As inferred from the trailer, Muklawa seems to be a story of innocence transmuted into rebellion in youth versus elderly determination to not change their opinions and attitude on set traditions.

Who will win in the end? The youth logic or the age-old tradition? For that we’ll have to watch Muklawa on May 24 in the theatre itself.

As far as the characters’ looks are concerned, both Ammy and Sonam exude simplicity of old times through both their outfits and body language.

Helmed by Simerjit Singh and produced by Gunbir Singh Sidhu and Manmord Sidhu, in ‘Muklawa’, along with Ammy Virk and Sonam Bajwa, the movie also features Gurpreet Ghuggi, BN Sharma, Karamjit Anmol, Sarbjit Cheema, Drishtii Garewal and Nirmal Rishi.

Manje Bistre 2 Review : Inviting You To Be A Part Of A Wedding House

There are some films that belong to a genre of their own. Manje Bistre 2 is one of them! This Baljit Singh Deo directorial starring Gippy Grewal and Simi Chahal in the lead roles isn’t your regular Punjabi wedding based comedy. Taking a cue from the original (Manje Bistre 2017), Manje Bistre 2 is an atmosphere (mahaul) based film that you can best enjoy if you think you’re a part of the family shown in the movie.

Written and produced by Gippy Grewal himself, Manje Bistre 2 provides a reasonably decent mix of Punjabi culture and comedy. One situation leads to another with the underlying theme of merging East and West – Punjabi culture amalgamated with Canadian sensibilities!

While on one side, the members of the family belonging to the older generation find it hard to keep Punjab out of their hearts despite having moved to the West, the younger generation wants to adopt the Western way of life, finding no meaning in our traditions and elaborate wedding rituals. How these two generations come together and accomplish an almost impossible task of organising a wedding merging both the cultures, is what Manje Bistre 2 all about.

Saadhu Halwai played by Karamjit Anmol was a significant and probably the most memorable character in the Original and this time also he gives a performance that’s unbeatable. Gippy Grewal performs well. Despite being the “hero” of the film, director Baljit Singh Deo doesn’t offer him any special screen space and the man does best in whatever role is given to him. Simi Chahal is decent while B.N. Sharma definitely makes you laugh tremendously throughout the film. Rest of the cast is good enough but the cutest is Jaggi Singh who impresses us with his cute Punjabi with a Canadian twang!

Manje Bistre 2 isn’t a pathbreaking film as opposed to its original which was a trendsetter and brought a whole new wave of wedding based films in Punjabi cinema. While Gippy Grewal definitely shines as an actor but as a writer, you might be a bit disappointed in him this time as the movie doesn’t really have an outstanding storyline. Comparing Manje Bistre 2 with Gippy Grewal’s earlier films (as a writer) like Mar Gaye Oye Loko and Ardaas, this one doesn’t stand at par.

Though you can definitely enjoy Manje Bistre 2 with your families and your kids might end up learning new things about Punjabi culture and life of Punjabis in Canada, yet it isn’t a film that’d either send you rolling with laughter or make you sentimental at any point. It’s a family movie presenting “natural”, light-hearted humour without being loud or over-creative. It presents family situations that you can definitely relate to, but don’t expect much from its storyline.

Our Rating: 3/5

P.S: While watching Manje Bistre 2 in the theatres, you shall also get a glimpse of Gippy Grewal-Sargun Mehta starrer – Chandigarh-Amritsar-Chandigarh as its teaser was shown during the interval. This was certainly a treat to watch and we can surely say that Chandigarh-Amritsar-Chandigarh is a film worth “desperately” waiting for!

Yaara Ve Review: For the first time, something positive on “1947”

A film which feasts the eyes, tugs at the heartstrings, deals with a strong subject, delivers an important message, without anywhere missing out on the “entertainment” quotient, is how we can describe Rakesh Mehta’s YAARA VE in one sentence!

A film which feasts the eyes, tugs at the heartstrings, deals with a strong subject, delivers an important message, without anywhere missing out on the “entertainment” quotient, is how we can describe Rakesh Mehta’s YAARA VE in one sentence!

Produced by Bally Singh Kakar, Yaara Ve revolves around a simple theme of friendship that stands the test of time. However, the differentiator here is that this friendship is between three friends belonging to three different religions – a Hindu, a Sikh and a Muslim. Sounds a little like a rairty in today’s times? However, back in Punjab before partition, this is how the way of life was, wherein it didn’t matter which sect or religion you came from, as “Punjabi” was the only identification that people of that beautiful era knew of.

For those who maybe imagining Yaara Ve to be a little on the sombre side of things as it touches a sensitive theme of partition should be rest assured after reading our review as this film only brushes past this subject like a tangent, and is far from evoking any harrowing memories of those times.

In fact, film Yaara Ve can be well regarded as a “need-of-the-hour” kind of film considering the unrest we are experiencing in our country when it comes to the issue of “religion”. The film effectively portrays how life was simple and joyful during the months preceding the partition with the innocent people hardly knowing anything about the politics of the issue.

Rakesh Mehta and team have effectively shown the ground-reality of Punjabi during those days and the fact that it was never Punjabis who wanted partition, but ironically, they were the ones who suffered the most.

Talking about the technical aspects of the film, Yaara Ve scores full points here. Each and every frame of the film is a treat to watch suggesting top-notch cinematographic skills and the hardwork that went into creating the stunning sets. A big round of applause for the Art Department here.

While many might find the first half a little dragged, the second half is gripping enough to compensate for that. The dialogues and the music both help in carrying forward the story and thankfully, the situations are pleasant enough to make us laugh without the aid of a plethora of comic one-liners.

Acting department is decent enough. There’s no one in the film that you can pinpoint and say that they didn’t fit into their character. Every actor seems to be well-fitted into their roles. While Monica Gill looks splendid in traditional outfits, Raghveer Boli makes his special presence felt with his awesome acting skills. Gagan Kokri seems to have improved a lot since his ‘Laatu’ days. Yuvraj is always an amazing actor to see whenever he comes on screen.

Veterans have done what they were supposed to do. No one stands out in any special way though.

Overall, Yaara Ve is a light-hearted family entertainer with the “Punjab of 1947” as its backdrop. Do not expect this film to highlight any socio-political matters of those times.

Iampunjaabi.com Rating: 3.5/5

Yaara Ve: Packed With Comic Punches; Enjoy The Dialogue Promos

Though Yaara Ve was touted to be a film based on Indo-Pak partition initially, however, with time we learnt that this period movie is actually replete with a lot of fun and humorous moments shared between the lead characters of the film who all lived joyfully together even though they belonged to different religions.

Though Yaara Ve was touted to be a film based on Indo-Pak partition initially, however, with time we learnt that this period movie is actually replete with a lot of fun and humorous moments shared between the lead characters of the film who all lived joyfully together even though they belonged to different religions.

Starring Monica Gill, Gagan Kokri, Raghveer Boli and Yuvraj Hans in the lead roles, Yaara Ve is basically a story about the friendship between three friends with Gagan being a Sikh, Raghveer – a Hindu and Yuvraj, a Muslim. It’s a film about how life was simple and fun for the common villagers in Punjab who didn’t understand the complexities of Politics of those times. One sudden night they are asked to go to their “respective” countries and how things relationships suffer, is what Yaara Ve is all about.

However, leaving aside the intense part of the film, enjoy some fun dialogues from Yaara Ve below. These dialogue promos were shared by Gagan Kokri.

RABB DA RADIO 2: Movie Review (Tarsem Jassar, Simi Chahal)

Rabb Da Radio 2 is a sequel of 2017 superhit film Rabb Da Radio which was the debut film of Tarsem Jassar. Rabb Da Radio 2 begins from where Rabb Da Radio ends. Here’s Iampunjaabi.com’s honest review:

Rabb Da Radio 2 is a sequel of 2017 superhit film Rabb Da Radio which was the debut film of Tarsem Jassar. Rabb Da Radio 2 begins from where Rabb Da Radio ends. Here’s Iampunjaabi.com’s honest review:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BsPoad-2XsM

{module [429]}

Rabb Da Radio 2 starts where its first installment ends. The film, just like its original version, focuses once again on complex family relations typical in a Punjabi village family, with a special emphasis on individual human emotions. While in the last film, Tarsem Jassar was relegated to the backseat making the female characters of the movie stand out, in the sequel, however, Tarsem looks and acts like a true hero and the director has made sure to highlight his character well.

Simi Chahal despite being married, doesn’t lose her chutzpah at all and she carries her bubbliness and innocence from part 1 into this film as well. The story of Rabb Da Radio 2 is very much predictable and doesn’t leave much scope for the audience to guess, yet the screenplay focusing on even the smallest details backed by awesome background score is comendable.

For the audiences who are used to entertaining films, Rabb Da Radio 2 might appear to be a slow movie with only some part of the second half racing things a bit. However, the fans of Tarsem Jassar and the ones who love emotional dramas are bound to enjoy Rabb Da Radio 2, IF, they don’t compare it with the Original.
