Ever since Binnu Dhillon and Sargun Mehta announced their collaboration together as ‘producers’, Punjabi cinema’s level has gone many a notch higher! First they churned out an amazing film called ‘Kala Shah Kala’ and now they’re coming up with another uniquely themed movie, ‘Jhalle’, the trailer of which has taken the industry by storm yet again!
The best about Sargun and Binnu’s movies is that they both deal with subjects that provide some social value to the audience as well. While ‘Kala Shah Kala’ dealt with the issue of a man’s complex about his complexion, Jhalle seems to be touching the issue of mentally-differently-abled’ personalities played by Binnu Dhillon and Sargun Mehta in the movie.
The trailer of ‘Jhalle’ has thus, received an enormous response on the Youtube and so has its songs. Just today, Jhalle’s title track got released (in the lovely voice of Gurnam Bhullar) and the song has as expected received a warm welcome by the Punjabi audience.

Though this Friday’s Punjabi movie release, Ardab Mutiyaran has sent the cash registers ringing at the box office and has emerged as the highest ever female-led Punjabi opener, here are some more ways why we think that Ardab Mutiyaran has set a new benchmark in the Punjabi film industry!
A paradigm shift from ‘Jatt’ to ‘Jatti’: It is an evident characteristic about the Punjabi film industry that the movies are found to be male-centric wherein a young and handsome Punjabi jatt is seen to be the center of attraction. However, Ardab Mutiyaran has turned the tables wherein Babbu Bains, a finance recovery agent being played by Sonam Bajwa is seen to be stealing the show. Bajwa is seen in a first-of-its-kind avatar that fights for her rights and raises her voice for justice. Not only her but Mehreen Kaur Pirzada has also aced the boss lady attitude in the movie which adds more thrill to Ardab Mutiyaran.
A storyline that strikes the perfect balance between comedy, drama and realism: A beautifully written storyline by Dheeraj Rattan, Ardab Mutiyaran has the perfect blend of comedy, drama and realism. It has its fair share of romance and funny dialogues which keeps the viewer glued till the end.
A promising debut by Ajay Sarkaria: A new entrant in the Punjabi film industry, Ajay Sarkaria has put to good use his proficient training from his acting school in New York. Sharing the screen with Sonam Bajwa, Sarkaria is seen playing the role of a ‘Halwai’ as Bains fondly likes to call him, who is suppressed beneath dominance.
Ninja as the perfect best friend: The singer-turned-actor Ninja has redefined friendship in Ardab Mutiyaran with his timeless charm and unconditional love for Bains. He has beautifully played the role of that ‘guy’ best friend who ever girl desires to have in her life; breaking the age old myth of ‘a boy and girl can never be just friends!’.
The new age plot: Ardab Mutiyaran is not just a forward thinking women centric movie but a present age movie which takes into consideration realistic instances which all of us tend to face at a certain point of time. From the stereotypical beliefs to the modern day issues, Ardab Mutiyaran captures it all.
Produced under the banner of White Hill Studios by Gunbir Singh Sidhu and Manmord Sidhu, Ardab Mutiyaran is directed by Manav Shah.

From the trailer, it seems that though there are various characters in the movie played different actors of repute including Ninja, Mehreen Pirzada and the new entrant Ajay Sarkaria, yet the movie seems to be revolving aroud one character primarily, which is that of Babbu Bains, played by Sonam Bajwa.
Although many might recall Sonam’s Guddiyan Patole avatar after watching this trailer, yet there are no two thoughts about the fact that Sonam brings an entirely different shade to this one.
Here seems to be an ultra tomboyish, fiesty girl who isn’t afraid to play by her own rules, regardless how the society perceives her attitude. Babbu Bains is a finance recovery agent, who knows how to bend the customers to get the money. She has her own way and it isn’t just her tongue that speaks but her hands, legs and hockeys too!
It is shown that even when she gets married, she doesn’t give in to the family traditions and scheming ladies, rather, she always takes a stand for herself. The rest of the cast especially, Ninja and Ajay Sarkaria seem to be totally fitting into their characters as well. Mehreen is pretty and seemingly, good in this role too.
But the final verdict about Ardab Mutiyaran can only be given after watching the entire film in the theatre on 18th October. So far, so good! Expectations are high. Whether the film will be as entertaining as the trailer, we’ll have to wait and watch.

The triquel of Nikka Zaildar (2016) is seen to be the talk of the town ever since it’s official trailer has been released yesterday.
Directed by Simerjit Singh and produced by Amneet Sher Singh, Ramneet Sher Singh and Viacom 18 Studios, Nikka Zaildar 3 is made under the banner of Viacom 18 Studios and Patiala Motion Pictures.
Just like the previous parts of Nikka Zaildar, Ammy Virk will be seen in the lead role. However, the female lead is being played by Wamiqa Gabbi instead of Sonam Bajwa. Gabbi made her screen debut with the Hindi film, Bittoo Boss (2012) and she was recently seen in the Punjabi movie Nadhoo Khan parallel to Harish Verma.
In addition to the duo, Nikka Zaildar 3 also stars Sonia Kaur, Nirmal Rishi, Sardar Sohi, Gurmeet Sajan, and Jagdeep Randhawa in pivotal roles.
The trailer of the movie speaks volumes about the bone-tickling comedy and the on-screen romantic chemistry of Ammy Virk and Wamiqa Gabbi which the movie has in store.
It highlights the underlying storyline of the movie which comes from the demise of Ammy Virk’s grandfather, played by Sardar Sohi. It further depicts how Virk is possessed by his spirit and the madness unfolds. His family and neighbours in the village leave no stone unturned to save Virk from the possession, but everything seems to take a toll. The epic comic timing and acting skills of the entire star-cast make the story line intriguing.
The trailer was seen to be proficient in terms of direction and photography, and the foot-tapping music proved to be a cherry on the cake.
Nikka Zaildar 3 is slated to release on 20th September 2019.

Come August, and the people of Pakistan will be celebrating their 73rd Independence Day while Indians will celebrate their own just a day after. Though both the countries have fought a handful wars but one cultural arena that binds at least the Punjabis of both sides, is “Movies”. One such film, “Chal Mera Putt”, has released today starring Amrinder Gill in the lead along with several renowned actors of Pakistan including Iftikhar Thakur, Nasir Chinyoti and Akram Udas!
‘Chal Mera Putt’ is directed by Janjot Singh and co-produced Karaj Gill and Ashu Munish Sahni under the label of Rhythm Boyz Entertainment, Gillz Network and Omjee Star Studios.
Based on the life of Indians and Pakistani illegal immigrants who are living in the city of Birmingham, United Kingdom, Chal Mera Putt explores the struggles they face, the lasting friendships they make and the insurmountable challenges they overcome while trying to get their permanent residency.
A light-hearted slapstick comedy which is taken to impressive heights by the humour generated by Nasir and Akram Udas together, makes ‘Chal Mera Putt’, a cut-above the rest. While Amrinder Gill and Simi Chahal’s cute yet ‘full-of-suspense’ romance keeps the audience engaged till the end, it’s the character artistes like Hardeep Gill and Gurshabd that provide a roller-coaster of emotions to the audience throughout the film.
Though touted as a comedy, Chal Mera Putt has elements of emerging as a complete entertainer, as its story is not an ‘ordinary’ one. It traces the ups and downs of real life while touching on various aspects of human life and their connections. In addition, the movie successfully manages to dive into the Indo-Pak tiff between its common people, and how the realization that even though divided by borders, after all, they are basically all just Punjabis at heart, going through the similar struggles and sufferings of life.
If the Pakistani actors did their job extremely well, the Indians were not left behind. Amrinder Gill kept the audience entertained throughout the film throwing his grace and charm in every frame he featured in. Simi looks absolutely adorable as a decent, educated and responsible girl studying, living and working abroad. Her hairdo and outfits suit her well and her performance is just how it was needed in the movie.
Hardeep Gill as a ‘Dholi’ steals the show with his mature performance and Harshdeep is well-suited in the role of a young illegal migrant. Akram Udas deserves a special mention once again for not just his comic act but showcasing a multi-layered performance effortlessly.
While we were not totally impressed by the cinematography of the film that included some shots perhaps using hand-held cameras? And some strange angles! But the soundtrack album by Dr Zeus and Gurcharan Singh, work in the favour of the movie.
Final Word: ‘Chal Mera Putt’ is too good an entertainer to be missed this weekend. Explore India Pakistan relations in a new light, and while having a good laugh, learn what actually binds the hearts of us ‘Punjabis’ together regardless of which side of the border we come from!
