With the release date of ‘Yaara Ve’ just around the corner, the makers are making sure to keep the audience gripped with something or the other so that the fans’ curiosity (as generated by the powerful trailer) builds even more!

As a step in the same direction, they have released the new poster of the movie. This new poster features the lead actress Monica Gill as Naseebo – the character she plays in Yaara Ve.

Playing the love-interest of Gagan Kokri in the movie, Monica Gill has come a long way since her “Ambarsariya” days – the film with which she made her Punjabi debut. Although born and brought up in the US, Monica Gill’s look and dialogues in the film are so worked upon that she looks absolutely fit for this role.

Playing a simple Punjabi village girl she’s captured her fans’ imagination like anything who have only seen her in glamorous roles so far.
Check out the new poster of Yaara Ve featuring Monica Gill
Releasing on April 5, ‘Yaara Ve’ is a period drama. Directed by Rakesh Mehta, it’s a story of three friends who cease to fail their friendship irrespective of the toughest situation of the Indo-Pak partition.

The movie that started the trend of “wedding” based comedy flicks in Punjab, Manje Bistre (2017) has got its sequel ready for the release on April 12, just a day before Vaisakhi and here’s a good news for the fans! Manje Bistre 2’s trailer is out now promising double ‘masti’ in a foreign land!

With trailer releasing sharp at 9 AM as promised, Manje Bistre 2’s team has made the mornings of every ardent Punjabi cinema fans full of laughter. The trailer starts with the premise of a wedding in Canada wherein the hero of the film (Gippy Grewal) shows interest in doing every wedding preparation by “hands” including collecting and arranging beds and mattresses aka ‘Manje Bistre’.

While on one side it’s amazing to see the camaraderie between Gippy Grewal and Jaggi Singh, on the other our ‘buzurg’ Karamjit Anmol once again goads us into loving this character! B.N. Sharma’s character, so far looks delightful and Simi looks fantastic in the cool summerish outfis. However, her Punjabi is quite chaste and we are not sure whether her character is residing in Canada or comes from India for a temporary stay in Canada. If she’s a Canadian resident, then her Punjabi should’ve had a bit of that Canadian twang. Isn’t it?
Manje Bistre : The film that started the trend of wedding movies in Punjab has certainly doled out a strong and impressive trailer of its second installment, which is enough to build audiences’ hopes.
Nevertheless, the film that started the trend of wedding movies in Punjab has certainly doled out a strong and impressive trailer which is enough to build audiences’ hopes. Now what’s there to be seen is that will the film (Manje Bistre) that pioneered the trend of wedding movies in Punjab, live up to the expectations or will it suffer from the saturation that our audience has already started experiencing with marriage dramas?

Be it Laavan phere, Kaake da Vyah, Parahuna, Vadhayiyaan ji vadhayiyaan, Vekh Barataan Challiyan, Marriage Palace and so many more, almost every filmmaker is trying their hands at the tried-and-tested formula created by the team of Gippy and Manje Bistre. But will the formula work this time?

WE really hope so!

Manje Bistre 2 stars Gippy Grewal, Simi Chahal, Gurpreet Ghuggi, Karamjit Anmol, BN Sharma, Sardar Sohi, Hobby Dhaliwal and many more. This film is directed by Baljit Singh Deo and produced by Gippy Grewal.

BAND VAAJE Movie Review : Another Comedy Of Errors That’s Fortunately ‘Paisa Wasool’

 Our rating: 3/5

What can be termed as a “typical” Smeep Kang kind of cinema – a mix of comedy of errors with some elements of underwhelming romance sprinkled here and there, BAND VAAJE – the second outing of ‘Shah n Shah’ Films (with A&A Advisors) is a decent weekend getaway from the humdrum of daily life.

As is evident from the trailer, this Binnu Dhillon and Mandy Takhar starrer is about a Pakistani girl who our hero falls crazily in love with (So crazily that he even chooses to work as a servant at the girl’s house) but when he eventually learns about her real nationality, he’s left in a Catch 22 situation. Neither can he live without the love of his life nor can he let down her grandmother (Nirmal Rishi) and brother (Smeep Kang), who are hell bent on marrying an Indian girl only.

Without going much into the plot, it can be safely said that Band Vaaje has certainly some moments that will make you laugh hysterically – thanks to the perfect comic timing of Binnu Dhillon and Jaswinder Bhalla. Even Gurpreet Ghuggi, who plays the part of Inder (Binnu Dhillon’s) friend has worked amazingly in the film with whatever little role he was given. His accented Punjabi once again reminds us of his Munde UK De act. No matter which frame he is in, one is bound to giggle for sure.

One scene wherein Ghuggi and Binnu become the victims of electric shock is hilarious owing to the wonderful play of comedy by both even though the scene was perfectly illogical. In fact there are many illogical scenes in the film but hey, who asked us to bring our brains inside the theatre?

The dog biting scene is perfectly executed and Binnu, once again deserves full marks here.

Talking about Mandy Takhar, although she looks ethereally beautiful in the traditional outfits (especially the yellow Kameez and Sharara), she certainly doesn’t at all appear like a college girl who is interested in studying for her exams (as was mentioned in the initial part of the film). Nevertheless, Mandy adds chutzpah with her charm in an otherwise male-dominated film. She’s decent and manages to grip our attention in whichever frame she appears.

The downside of the film has to be its meaningless storyline. The fact that the girl is from Pakistan isn’t given any serious focus. Could it be that the film got edited a bit due to the current Indo-Pak crisis at the border?

Another area where the film drops is the use of high-pitched dialogues by the actors when there was no need of it.

Shifting our focus to the cinematography and music, I thank Jatinder Shah for rendering a beautiful number like ‘Neend Na Aave’ and also, to the director for not filling the film with a lot of unnecessary songs just because the producer is a music director.

The aerial shots of the foregin country are gorgeous.

Overall, Band Vaaje is a perfect weekend getaway kind of a film which you won’t be disappointed watching with your family at all.

What’s In Akshay Kumar’s Turban In ‘Kesari’ That Weighs 6 KG??

Akshay Kumar’s ‘Kesari’ based on the battle of Saragarthi is making a lot of noise these days owing to its magnanimous trailer and the humongous response it has got till now.

Akshay Kumar’s ‘Kesari’ based on the battle of Saragarthi is making a lot of noise these days owing to its magnanimous trailer and the humongous response it has got till now.

However, a lot of people, who’re not much aware of the Sikh history, are wondering about the reason for so much weight of Akshay Kumar’s turban which, according to sources, weighs about 6 Kg!

In an interview Kesari’s costume designer Sheetal Sharma was quoted to be saying that “This turban was tied using 18-metre-long cloth. It’s a special turban. It was quite robust and protected the head of Ishar Singh during wars. It acts like a helmet as even a bullet cannot pass through it.”
It’s a special turban. It was quite robust and protected the head of Ishar Singh during wars. It acts like a helmet as even a bullet cannot pass through it.
Further she said that what added to the weight of turban is water and a metal ring. “We shot the film in Wai, Maharashtra, and the heat was intense. So, we used to spray water on the turban to keep it cool. That apart, if you see the picture, his turban has a metal ring. It’s called a chakra, which holds the turban in place. Also, it acts like a weapon during crisis situation. The edges of the ring are so sharp that it can cut someone’s wrist or stomach,” she added.

Sheetal also said that once, Akshay made the entire crew to wear the turban as he wanted everyone to understand how the soldiers fought wearing such a huge and heavy headgear. “During action scenes where Akshay had to jump, slide, etc, he found it difficult to shoot wearing the turban, but ultimately he did it,” Sheetal added.

First thing first. In the beginning of Yaara Ve’s trailer, it has been stated (voice over of Gurdas Maan) that the film is not about India and Pakistan but about those buddies who saw no border when it came to their friendship.

Set in the backdrop of pre-Independent India, Primarily, Yaara Ve’s trailer tells the story of 3 friends Buta, Kishan and Nizamat. The trailer begins on a light mode with a good mix of both comedy, family drama and romance. However, things soon change drastically with the announcement of India-Pakistan partition. As far as the costumes and looks of the starcast are concerned, all look apt according to the time period shown.

Yaara Ve’s trailer hasn’t revealed much about the story of the film as yet and it doesn’t perhaps deliberatley focus on the partition part either. We hope that this trailer shall build curiosity among the audience for watching this film in the theatre. We certainly are all eager to watch this one.

Besides the main starcast, the movie also stars legends like Yograj Singh, B N Sharma, Sardar Sohi, Nirmal Rishi, Hobby Dhaliwal, Gurpreet Bhangu, Malkeet Rauni, Pali Sandhu and Rana Jung Bahadur in pivotal roles. The film is produced by Bally Kakar.

As Yaara Ve’s Poster Gets Released, The Makers Send A Message Of Peace To The Audience

With the escalating tensions between India and Pakistan over the prevailing issue of terrorism, there comes a poster of a Punjabi film that talks about the time when India and Pakistan were just one nation and the people from both sides of the border lived in harmony together.

The film is none other than YAARA VE directed by Rakesh Mehta, the man who’s noted for having contributed quality cinema to the Punjabi audience with films like Wapsi (2016) and more recently, Rang Panjab (2018).

According to Rakesh Mehta, Yaara Ve is his attempt to bring forth the real stories of people from the pre-Independence era – the stories that he heard from his grand parents. These are the tales of friendships, love and bonding when Punjab was just one and how the partition of India affected their relationships with each other. With the film YAARA VE, specifically, Rakesh Mehta tells the tale of three friends played by Yuvraj Hans, Gagan Kokri and Raghveer Boli whose friendship gets affected due to partition.

Yaara Ve also stars Monica Gill as the lead heroine of the movie. The film is produced by Bally Kakar and is set to release on 5th April.

On 14th February more than 40 CRPF Jawans lost their lives to a dastardly attack by terrorists in J&K’s Pulwama district. The same morning, Binnu Dhillon and Sargun Mehta’s much-awaited film ‘Kala Shah Kala’ released worldwide to an amazing response.

While the film easily crossed more than 1 crore at the box office on the first day itself, but Binnu Dhillon and Sargun Mehta, the lead pair of the movie, decided to stop talking about their film from next day itself. When a movie gets released so many actors usually put up pictures of their fans with tickets, keep talking about how successfull the movie is running, posting the dialogue promos, songs, posters and so much more. It’s the first three days after the release of the film that determine the overall business the movie would end up doing but Binnu Dhillon startled everyone by discontinuing the movie-talk and posting a video of his expressing extreme grief for the martyred soldiers.

Sargun Mehta too expressed her grief through social media, and not only this, she and her husband Ravi Dubey even donated a sum of Rs 3 lakh to the martyrs’ families.

Nevertheless, Kala Shah Kala is doing extremely great business at the box office. Public is thronging at the theatres through just word-of-mouth! That’s the power of great content.
