The much-awaited production by Whitehill Studios, Muklawa has finally made it to the theaters and the expectations that got built before its release through its various songs and promos have been successfully met as well. Read to know why Iampunjaabi.com thinks that the movie can be the next big thing at the box-office!
1. Ammy Virk and Sonam Bajwa: This extremely good-looking and talented duo has been rocking since their Nikka Zaildar days and the comfort that these two real-life buddies share with each other can be easily gauged from their chemistry on-screen. In Muklawa, however, Sonam’s innocence gets complemented by Ammy’s quirkiness in a whole new way raising the movie to dizzying heights of success. Their innocent chemistry is praiseworthy and it’s interesting to watch how this today’s actor duo has been so successfully able to display the simplicity of the bygone era so well. Muklawa is certainly a treat to watch for both Sonam and Ammy’s fans.

2. Music: All Muklawa songs came out chartbusters much before the release of the film. Whether it’s ‘Kala suit’, or ‘Gulabi Paani’, the songs of this multi-starrer period drama have been composed in such a way that they will remain fresh forever.

3. The simple yet interesting story: One word to summarise the story of Muklawa is “Sweet”. The film manages to make you laugh effortlessly even with its simple dialogues. Thanks to the beautifully written screenplay and top-notch performances by not just the lead but the supporting cast as well.

Just a simple tale of a husband struggling to meet his wife, is what Muklawa is all about. For meeting his own wife before the ‘Muklawa’ ceremony, Shinda (Ammy Virk) dons various disguises and plays different tricks just to get a glimpse of Taro (Sonam Bajwa), his wife.

4. Direction: Simerjit Singh is known to be a master of Period dramas. He was the first one to bring forth a superhit period film – Angrej in 2015 and since then his expertise in the field has only got better. In Muklawa too, he tries his best to weave a simple story with an aim to acquaint the young generation about the ancient Punjabi culture. Even the supporting cast e.g. Karamjit Anmol, Gurpreet Ghuggi, BN Sharma, Karamjit Anmol, Sarbjit Cheema, Drishtii Garewal and Nirmal Rishi, contribute heavily in telling a story of Punjab of the bygone era.

So, it’s the combined work of the director, the lead and the supporting cast, the music composers and of course the production house which released the film on a huge scale allover the world, that make Muklawa work and shall help it become one of the biggest blockbusters of all times.

15 Lakh Kadon Aauga (Review): A Praiseworthy Step In The Right Direction
With the plethora of regular Punjabi family dramas and wedding comedies flooding the Punjabi film industry for over two years now, here’s a filmmaker who’s finally dared to attempt something out-of-the-box with “15 Lakh Kadon Aauga” and steered Punjabi cinema in a completely new direction.

Frriday Russh Motion Pictures’ latest presentation (after the highly successful Mr and Mrs 420 series and Uda Aida), 15 Lakh Kadon Aauga starring Ravinder Grewal and Pooja Verma in the lead shall definitely remind you of the ‘Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro’ and Hrishikesh Mukherjee kind of cinema when complicated social issues were told in a simple yet entertaining manner.

Without revealing the plot much, Manpreet Brar’s 15 Lakh Kadon Aauga is based on the life of a good-for-nothing common man, witty but extremely lazy to work-hard and put his highly convincing oratory skills to a good use. Played by Ravinder Grewal, the man after trying many options lands into a highly prolific profession of a ‘God Man’, preaching in the day and drinking his nights away merrily. His luck further intensifies when a political party’s election ‘joomla’ indirectly helps him gain a lot. How the gullible common people get befooled, how the system plays out its own game, is what the story is based on causing enough chaos and drama to entertain you.

Tangentially touching the realm of Indian national politics, 15 Lakh Kadon Aauga successfully saves itself from landing into any controversy. Thanks to the smartly written dialogues, the screenplay and decent direction that keep the film strictly for entertaining purposes.

Talking about the performances, 15 Lakh Kadon Aauga would certainly give a second-wind to Ravinder Grewal’s career. The man looks absolutely fantastic in his comical role of Indian ‘Baba’. The way the character’s written, it gives ample opportunity to him to perform, and Grewal does his best. Pooja Verma, complements being his wife, a simple yet nagging homemaker who manages to make you laugh at certain points too with the way she utters the witty one-liners. Rana Ranbir, in a short but powerful role, lifts the film to new heights.

Rest of the actors fit in their respective roles well too. However, the one who scores the best is Ravinder Grewal for sure.

Chandigarh-Amritsar-Chandigarh: Read How GIPPY Grewal Mastered ‘Amritsari Accent’

No matter how many Amritsar Papads you ate, but if you’re not from Amritsar, you know how hard it is to get the Amritsari accent and dialect right in your speech! Well, superstar Gippy Grewal too faced some difficulties in mastering the ‘Ambarsari’ twang but check out whether ultimately he did accomplish this mission or not?

No matter how many Amritsar Papads you ate, but if you’re not from Amritsar, you know how hard it is to get the Amritsari accent and dialect right in your speech! Well, superstar Gippy Grewal too faced some difficulties in mastering the ‘Ambarsari’ twang but check out whether ultimately he did accomplish this mission or not?

In Chandigarh Amritsar Chandigarh (releasing on 24th May), Gippy is playing the role of an Amritsari boy who has stayed in Amritsar throughout his life. So in order to get the accent perfect, Gippy Grewal put in a lot of effort to get the dialect correct.

Originally coming from a village in Ludhiana which is a part of Malwa belt, it was difficult for Gippy to instantly pick up the Amritsari accent which lies in Majha region of Punjab. And for his dialogue delivery to be perfect, there was always a language supervisor on set to help him throughout.

Talking about how difficult it was for him to deliver dialogues in the best possible way, Gippy Grewal said “I am basically from Ludhiana which is a part of Malwa region. And the tone of speaking is something that is very different from that of Majha belt. So in order to get the perfect speech tone, rhythm of the language and get the catch, I always tried talking to the locals there, to see the way they speak. For the first time I had to learn my dialogues which I realized was a very difficult task. But all in all, it was a fun filled ride, learning to speak the Amritsari way. I hope I have done justice to the role and people like it.”

On the other hand, it was not at all a difficult task for Sargun who is the lead actor opposite Gippy Grewal. She will be seen playing the role of a Chandigarh girl and had no problem while dialogue delivery.

Chandigarh Amritsar Chandigarh is a film which will show the journey of two people who are completely different from each other still enjoy each other’s company. The film is directed by Karan R Guliani, and the film is a presentation of Sumit Dutt, Dreambook and A Leostride Entertainment Production.

Munish Sahni’s Omjee Groups is distributing the film worldwide. The film will release on 24th May.

BLACKIA Review: Enjoy Retro-style Action Drama In New Light
Today’s release, Punjabi period drama movie Blackia receives appreciation for its unique storyline and proficient acting skills of the star-cast.

Today’s release, Punjabi period drama movie Blackia receives appreciation for its unique storyline and proficient acting skills of the star-cast.
For last few years we’ve seen many Punjabi period movies but most of them have run around the themes of weddings and romance. In fact, so far we’ve not seen any true-blue action period drama on the Punjabi big screen. However, ending our wait, today the much-awaited film of Dev Kharoud after Kaka Ji, Blackia produced by Vivek Ohri in association with PTC Motion Pictures and directed by veteran filmmaker Sukhminder Dhanjal has finally hit the silver screen.

A Punjabi period drama movie, Blackia narrated the journey of Gurnam Singh, a young boy who hails his roots from a family which deals with gold smuggling and as destiny would have it, the boy becomes a victim to circumstances and the story further unfolds.

Distributed by Global Moviez, BLACKIA caters to that era of Indian history when the border between India and Pakistan was unfenced and a lot of gold smuggling happened from Afghanistan to India via Pakistan.

Playing the role of Gurnam Singh, Dev Kharoud was spotted partaking in various action – packed scenes which were appreciated by the audiences.

To his parallel was Indian actress, Ihana Dhillon who was seen in Punjabi movies after a long haul, but nevertheless she didn’t lose her sheen. Her beautiful chemistry with Dev initiated a new found love for the on-screen jodi.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gm5M0vfzQl4

BLACKIA presents Dev Kharoud in once again that “angry young man” mode – giving him ample screen presence and scope to perform.

The movie is shot in the typical 70s style Bollywood film reminding one of those Amitabh Bachchan films wherein he bashed the baddies down effortlessly. Be it the hairstyles of the actors (including Ihana Dhillon’s elevated puff trailed by a long “braid” ponytail and not to miss, the omnipresent “gulaab ka phool”) or the model of cars, the outfits (printed shirts of the heroes and tight kameez of the heroine) – everything seems to be worked out in detail, in this film replete with enough retro drama.

National award winning director Sukhminder Dhanjal who has helmed Blackia, it seems has given his all in making the film look as realistic as possible. We believe that the robust dialogues and crackling action would help the film fetch a great word of mouth for itself.

The movie also stars Ashish Duggal, Rana Jung Bahadur and Lucky Dhaliwal in pivotal roles who have all interestingly given an applauseworthy yet different performance this time.

Rating: 3.5/5

Muklawa – CAC Clash: Sargun Mehta Takes It Sportingly, Dances On “Kala Suit”

In one of the best “savage” moments on the internet yesterday, Punjab’s one of the most loved heroines Sargun Mehta proved in a really cute yet sporting manner that even though her (Chandigarh Amritsar Chandigarh) and Ammy Virk’s (Muklawa) movies may be clashing head-on on May 24, yet they are the best buddies nevertheless. Sargun and Ammy have already rocked together in Qismat earlier.

It so happened that the day before yesterday, Ammy Virk’s Muklawa (Releasing on May 24) had its song “Kala Suit” rolled out in which Ammy is seen in a romantic fervor with film’s heroine Sonam Bajwa. The song is tremendously loved by the audience but the highlight of the day was when Sargun Mehta, who is starring in another film (releasing on May 24 itself) with Gippy Grewal as her co-star posted of video of hers dancing on Muklawa’s song.

In what may be called as the most graceful gesture by the leading lady, the video has been received really well by both the movie’s starcast and makers, not to mention the fans of both the stars.

Have a look at the video below shared by Gunbir Singh Sidhu (One of Muklawa’s producers himself):

In the video Sidhu thanked Sargun for posting the video saying “Thanks a million to Sargun Mehta for dancing to the tune of #kalasuit , the first song of movie #muklawa which was released recently. Muklawa releases on 24th May.”

Meanwhile, Sargun Mehta’s Chandigarh Amritsar Chandigarh releases on May 24 too in which she’ll be paired for the first time with Gippy Grewal.

15 Lakh Kado Aauga (Trailer): A Satire On False Promises And Social Gullibility

Frriday Russh Motion Pictures led by Rrupaali Gupta, is one production house that’s known for churning out films that are always “hatke”! Be it Punjab’s first gender-change comedy (Mr and Mrs 420 series) or a family entertainer with a strong social message (Uda Aida), this production house has always served our audience with something new.

Now walking on the same lines, Rrupaali Gupta with her team is all set to present us “15 Lakh Kado Aauga”- the trailer of which was released just a few days ago. Starring Ravinder Grewal and Pooja Verma in the lead, the film’s title and teaser already suggested what theme it is based on and the trailer, more or less, confirmed the same.

The trailer shows how an almost good-for-nothing man dabbles in various professions, lying to his family constantly just to earn some easy moolah. One fine day though he realises that being a ‘Godman’ is a highly prolific “business” considering how vulnerable Indian public, usually is. So as he begins his new work, he also becomes acquainted with one of our politician’s alleged promise of crediting every Indian with Rs 15 lakh, once his party comes to power! Hence ensues a series of comic events making “15 Lakh Kadon Aauga” a promising socio-satirical drama.

Directed by Manpreet Brar, 15 Lakh Kadon Aauga hits the theatres this Election season only (10th May 2019). Prior to its trailer, a song of the movie – ‘Hath Tight Da’ was also released. Enjoy the track here:

‘Muklawa’ Trailer: Story Of The Time When A Husband Wasn’t Allowed To Meet His Own Wife

Simple, warm and so very fresh despite being a period drama – that’s the feeling I get after watching the trailer of Muklawa, a film releasing on May 24 starring Ammy Virk and Sonam Bajwa in the lead. It is produced by renowned production house, Whitehill Studios and directed by Simerjit Singh.

Watch the trailer and read our review below:
One look at the trailer and you’re sure to fall in love with the innocence of people of the bygone era when relationships were regarded as sacred and pious, and everything, inlcluding a husband-wife relationship needed a proper “sanction” from the society! So, in those times mere a marriage ceremony wasn’t enough to cement the nuptial bond, an elaborate ritual of ‘Muklawa’ needed to be performed as well which meant husband/wife living apart from each other despite being “officially” married.

Even nowadays this ceremony is held but right after the wedding day itself, pretty short waiting time as compared to one full year in those times!

Now talking things from cinematic perspective, Muklawa’s trailer succeedingly leaves an impact on us owing to its fresh storyline. Without being too loud, the trailer manages to convey that you can expect this film to be a healthy mix of light-hearted humour and emotions. As inferred from the trailer, Muklawa seems to be a story of innocence transmuted into rebellion in youth versus elderly determination to not change their opinions and attitude on set traditions.

Who will win in the end? The youth logic or the age-old tradition? For that we’ll have to watch Muklawa on May 24 in the theatre itself.

As far as the characters’ looks are concerned, both Ammy and Sonam exude simplicity of old times through both their outfits and body language.

Helmed by Simerjit Singh and produced by Gunbir Singh Sidhu and Manmord Sidhu, in ‘Muklawa’, along with Ammy Virk and Sonam Bajwa, the movie also features Gurpreet Ghuggi, BN Sharma, Karamjit Anmol, Sarbjit Cheema, Drishtii Garewal and Nirmal Rishi.
