‘Paani Ch Madhaani’ first look: Gippy Grewal and Neeru Bajwa appearing as Gullie te Sohni

Panni Ch Madhaani will star Gippy Grewal and Neeru Bajwa in the lead roles and will release on February 12, 2021.

Panni Ch Madhaani will star Gippy Grewal and Neeru Bajwa in the lead roles and will release on February 12, 2021.

As the movie theatres across the nation got opened on 16th October, the filmmakers in Punjab are announcing the movie dates for the year 2021 one after another.

Now Gippy Grewal and Neeru Bajwa’s much-awaited film ‘Paani Ch Madhaani’ has got a release date too and its first look was shared by the team on their social media today.

Featuring Gippy Grewal as Gullie and Neeru Bajwa as Sohni, Paani Ch Madhaani appears to be a romantic film from its intriguing first look.

The first poster of Paani Ch Madhaani features a completely new look of the desi rockstar Gippy Grewal. He’s seen donning an 80s retro look wearing bellbottoms and tweed coat. Even his hairstyle denotes that the film is probably set in the era of the late seventies or eighties.

On the other hand, Neeru Bajwa is sporting a simple Punjabi look wearing a plain traditional salwar kameez with dupatta.

It seems that this Vijay Kumar Arora directorial is a period movie – however, no official announcement of the script of the film has been made yet.

Paani Ch Madhaani has been written by Naresh Kathooria and directed by Vijay Kumar Arora. The film has been produced by Mani Dhaliwal, Sunny Raj and Dr. Prabhjot Singh Sidhu.

Paani Ch Madhaani will be releasing on February 12th, 2021.

It may be noted that this film will be Gippy Grewal and Neeru Bajwa’s comeback film as a jodi after a hiatus of nearly 10 years. Their last outing together was ‘Jihne Mera Dil Luteya’ which also featured Diljit Dosanjh. Jihne Mera Dil Luteya was directed by Mandeep Kumar and was an overnight success. This film set records as being the highest Punjabi box-office opener at that time.

While Neeru Bajwa has done many films with Diljit Dosanjh in these ten years including blockbusters like Jatt and Juliet series, Sardaarji series and most recently, Shadaa, the reason for Neeru and Gippy not appearing in any film together still remains a suspense.

Meanwhile, besides Paani Ch Madhaani, Gippy Grewal and Neeru Bajwa shall be seen in another Punjabi film together this year named ‘Phatte Dinde Chakk Punjabi’. The announcement of the same was made two days ago by the makers.

Phatte Dinde Chakk Punjabi was earlier scheduled to be released in July 2020 starring Binnu Dhillon and Zareen Khan together. However, amid Covid-19 and lockdown of cinema halls, the fate of the movie changed altogether. Not only has its release date been pushed now to July 2021 but the lead starcast has been totally changed as well. Now instead of Binnu Dhillon and Zareen Khan – Phatte Dinde Chakk Punjabi will, as mentioned above, star Neeru Bajwa and Gippy Grewal together.

Well, with two films already in the kitty it seems year 2021 shall turn out to be a joyride for both Neeru Bajwa and Gippy Grewal fans. Meanwhile the duo has even got their individual projects scheduled for 2021. Watch this space for regular updates about Punjabi movies.

Shocking all her fans, Himanshi Khurana today tweeted from her official twitter account to reveal that she’s been tested Positive for Covid -19. The development came just one day after she sat for the protests against the Farms Bill 2020.

Farmers protested across the country recently, against the Farmers’ Bill 2020 which the Indian government had passed recently. The protests saw participation from several noted Punjabi film and music industry’s celebrities including Himanshi Khurana.

Punjabi Model, Actress and Ex-Bigg Boss Contestant Himanshi Khurana, however, fell prey to the novel Coronavirus and notified her fans of the same through her latest Tweet and Instagram posts:

She wrote:

“I want to inform you all that I have tested positive for COVID-19 even after taking proper precautions. As you all know that I was the part of the protest day before yesterday and the area was crowded so I thought to get the test done before I go for my shoot today evening,” wrote Himanshi Khurana.

 Panga with Kangana

A few days ago, Himanshi Khurana also run down Kangana Ranaut on Twitter about the latter’s remark on Farmers Bill and terming protesting farmers, as ‘Terrorists’.

Himanshi Khurana gave Kangana Ranaut a piece of her mind and told her that Kangana was once an inspiration to her but she is totally wrong in her views on Farmers who are protesting across the nation against the bill.

Himanshi was lauded by her fans for her bold statement against Kangana. The Punjabi model also commented that poor farmers are not fighting for any ‘luxury’. They are just fighting for three square meals. Before saying anything ridiculous about the farmers, Kangana must think once carefully.

Himanshi is among first few celebrities to have caught Covid-19 in Punjab. It is however, shocking to see that other Punjabi artistes like Ranjit Bawa and Tarsem Jassar who also sat in protests against the Farmers’ Bill on 25th September, didn’t even wear mask.

Is this the example that our role models setting? What do you think about this development?

Farms Bill 2020

The BJP-led Indian Government recently passed three new legislations for providing a barrier-free trade-mode for farmers produce outside notified grain markets.

With these ordinances, farmers can have a farming agreement with private players before the production. But, most farmers especially in the states of Punjab and Haryana are not in agreement of these new legislations, as they believe it will phase out the MSP and the traditional grain market system.

Hence these protests have been going on in the states. Several noted celebrities including Diljit Dosanjh, Ammy Virk, Gippy Grewal, Gurnam Bhullar, Sonam Bajwa, Nisha Bano, Ranjit Bawa and many more are supporting the farmers.

Diljit Dosanjh, Ammy Virk and Other Artistes Speak Against Absence Of Punjabi In Jammu & Kashmir

While the issue of farmers’ protests against the new agriculture ordinances passed by the Indian government (Farm Bill 2020) is being greatly supported by politicians across all parties and Punjabi artistes, now our entertainment industry giants like Diljit Dosanjh, Ammy Virk and many others, have even got together to protest against the decision of not including Punjabi language in Jammu and Kashmir Official Languages Bill, 2020.

The bill, which has been recently passed in the Indian Parliament has made Hindi, Dogri and Urdu as its official languages while not considering the demands of Punjabi population in the region.

The Punjabi entertainment industry stars yesterday shared a poster on their social media accounts with a slogan in Punjabi. The slogan, besides, calling for support for farmers, also states a fact that Punjabi has been excluded from the official languages of Jammu & Kashmir.

Take a look at the posters shared by Diljit Dosanjh, Ammy Virk, Nisha Bano, Prince Kanwaljit, Gurnam Bhullar and several other artistes from Punjabi film fraternity.

It may be noted that Jammu & Kashmir has had a strong historic connection with Punjab. Punjabi was not only the mother tongue of lakhs of residents in J&K but was also recognised as per the constitution of the Union Territory.

The Jammu and Kashmir Official Languages Bill 2020 was passed by a voice vote in the Upper House on Wednesday. The Bill gives official status to Kashmiri, Dogri, Hindi, English, and Urdu languages in the Union Territory.

“The Bill fulfils the decades-long wishes of the people of the region. It is a big step which will give official language status to Kashmiri, Dogri, Hindi, English, and Urdu,” said Minister of State (MoS) Home Affairs G Kishan Reddy said speaking during the discussions.

Gurnam Bhullar also made an appeal to his fans to maintain peace while protesting. He said that though we all are together in this, but we must do this struggle in a peaceful manner. 7,

He wrote: “Asi saare ikk haa’n ??, par kirpa karke josh de naal hosh v bnaa ke rakheo ji , ehh sangharsh appa saareya ne shaantmai tareeke naal sire launa hai ji”

What Has Punjab Got To Do With J&K?

Jammu and Kashmir had a very deep-rooted connection with Punjab as the region was a part of Maharaja Ranjit Singh’s Empire. According to wikipedia,

According to wikipedia.org, Gulab Singh, the founder of Dogra dynasty that formed the royal house of Jammu and Kashmir, was an influential noble in the court of Maharaja Ranjit Singh while his brother Dhian Singh served as the prime minister of the Sikh empire.

It was Maharaja Ranjit Singh who had crowned Gulab Singh as the king of Jammu and Kashmir on June 17, 1822. There are a lot of Punjabis in J&K and hence, the demand for including the Punjabi in the Official Languages Bill of Jammu and Kashmir was being made by the local leaders, Akali Dal and Punjab Congress Party as well.

Ex-Deputy Chief Minister of Punjab Sukhbir Singh Badal also expressed his anger at the development through this tweet:

Sidhu Moose Wala To Stand Among Farmers In Protest, Says ‘I am a farmer too’

While on one hand, politicians from different political parties are laying down their differences aside to show solidarity for the farmers after the Indian government passed three crucial agriculture ordinances, artistes from Punjabi entertainment industry are joining hands too as most of them come from farmers’ families themselves.

While on one hand, politicians from different political parties are laying down their differences aside to show solidarity for the farmers after the Indian government passed three crucial agriculture ordinances, artistes from Punjabi entertainment industry are joining hands too as most of them come from farmers’ families themselves.

Sidhu Moose Wala, who was being trolled by certain people for keeping a mum silence on the issue, went live on his Instagram page yesterday and said a number of things, which show that he too, totally understands the pain that the farmers across the state are going through.

He said, he’s a farmer himself and so are his father and grandfather. In a startling revelation, he also said that he held a protest in Patiala on the issue and wanted to sit himself in the ‘dharna’, however, the organisers said that they couldn’t arrange for Moose Wala’s security there.

Now the ‘So High’ singer has told his fans that he shall sit on the ‘Dharna’ in Mansa next.

Sidhu Moose Wala also said that despite being an artiste, he does farming daily because he is attached to his soil, his motherland. So, he said that he shall do anything to take this fight forward as it is about saving the grace of the very people who have allowed to become what he is today.

What are the protests about?

The Agriculture Bill 2020 was passed recently by the Indian government but the farmers across the nation are in not in agreement with the ordinances since they think that these will hurt the small farmers big time. Hence they are now raising their voice and have even called for a ‘Bharat Band’ on September 25.

To show solidarity, Punjabi entertainment industry’s singers, writers and actors have united and celebrities like Diljit Dosanjh, Himanshi Khurana, Ammy Virk, Binnu Dhillon, Gurnam Bhullar and many others have shared the poster of 25th September on their social media profiles.

The poster has a message written in Punjabi and says that all are standing in solidarity with the farmers. Further, anyone who feels that the farm bills are justified, must come and talk to the farmers.

It maybe recalled that to favour the farmers’ protests, Ranjit Bawa and Himanshi Khurana even went ahead and run down Kangana Ranaut on Twitter in the last few days when Kangana equated farmers’ protests to CAA protests and called those opposing the bill as ‘terrorists’.

She later justified her Tweet by saying that her comments were taken in a wrong context. However, that didn’t stop her from blocking Bawa on Twitter.

Himanshi too, wrote to Kangana that even though she saw her as an inspiration once, but now Kangana is completely wrong and she must understand that farmers are not fighting for any luxury – but just to get three meals of the day.

The fact that all the top Punjabi artistes have come forward to express anger against the bill and solidarity with the farmers, certainly show that there’s still a lot of unity left in the Punjabi entertainment industry. Fans of all these stars are lauding their efforts too.
