In a major crackdown operation conducted on Thursday, the Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF) in Punjab apprehended eight people linked to the nexus between Punjabi singers, gangsters, and travel agents. Sources from AGTF confirmed that an FIR has been lodged with the state crime branch, and investigations are underway to determine the role of those apprehended.
Among those arrested, the majority are travel agents, and their involvement in the nexus is being probed. As per sources, more arrests are expected to be made later in the day. Notably, one of the associates of popular Punjabi singer Karan Aujla, Sharpy Ghuman, was also taken into custody during the operation.
The crackdown comes as part of the government’s ongoing efforts to tackle the problem of gangsters and their links to the entertainment industry in Punjab. More updates on this story will be provided as they become available.

Kaur Singh was born on February 15, 1949, in a village in Punjab’s Sangrur district. He began his boxing career in the Indian Army and eventually represented India at the 1982 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles, where he reached the quarterfinals. Kaur Singh was also a gold medallist at the 1984 New Delhi Asian Games.
In 1980, Kaur Singh was chosen to fight against Muhammad Ali in an exhibition match in New Delhi. Although he lost the match, it was a significant moment in his career and a testament to his talent as a boxer.
After retiring from boxing, Kaur Singh worked as a coach and mentor for young boxers in his community. His contributions to the sport of boxing in India will be remembered and cherished.
