Hollywood to Ballewood : ‘Fast & Furious 8’ Associate Director Set To Produce ‘Kuldeep Manak’ Biopic

In the late 1970s and early 1980s Manak was generally regarded as the best Punjabi singer in the world. Even today, long after his demise, there’s no dearth in the huge fan following that Manak once enjoyed. Be it youth or aged, the connoisseurs of music cannot help appreciating the rare talent that his man possessed.

A lot of times, in Punjabi film industry, the question of his biopic has got raised. However, till now, no one has actually come forward to execute this brilliant idea. Manak’s life has been filled with so many dramatic ups and downs that a film on his life will sure inspire the youth of today in many ways. What then is stopping the filmmakers to come forward with his biographical film?

But now H Virk from Virk films and Josan Sandeep from Josan Bros Entertainment have joined hands to make a film on this much-talked about legend Kuldeep Manak. Producer Josan Sandeep, is a renowned name in Hollywood. He was the Associate Director in Fast & Furious Franchise’s 8th installment – Fast 8, and has also contributed his expertise in Hollywood movies like Skyfall, Total Recall, Amazing Spiderman, Ghost Rider II and Angelina Jolie starrer Salt.

When asked as to why he is venturing into punjabi cinema, Josan says, “I had done so much for Hollywood films so thought  of doing something in Punjab – my motherland now. This subject was always in my mind for which I’ve already done quite a lot of research. I am sure that my team shall be able to do the justice to this biopic.”

But there is a little twist in this project. The actor isn’t finalized as yet! “This is a big question and we are sure that with your support, we will be able to find somebody who can enact Kuldeep Manak and Re-Live his life on the big screen. Who do you think should play the role of Kuldeep Manak in Punjabi cinema?”

It’s Confirmed : AMMY VIRK will play cricketer Balwinder Singh in His Bollywood Debut – ’83

Singer/actor Ammy Virk, who gave a fantastic performance as a hockey player in Punjabi movie – Harjeeta last year, is all set to play a sportsman again but this time is for his debut Bollywood film.

The actor shall be seen playing former Indian cricketer Balwinder Singh Sandhu in Kabir Khan’s upcoming sports drama, ’83 that stars Ranveer Singh in the lead.  The makers made the big announcement with a short video that described Sandhu as “the bowler who swung ’83 World Cup India’s way” and “the Singh, who was a king, both on and off the field.”

All set to release on 1st February 2019, Uda Aida, written by Naresh Kathooria,  is a film emphasizing on how English is slowly replacing Punjabi especially among the urban Punjabi kids. Even the parents do not encourage their kids to speak or even learn their mother tongue! 

Speaking about his role in the film, the film’s lead hero Tarsem Jassar quoted, “It is a very special project. I’m pretty sure that the chemistry between me and Neeru Bajwa will be appreciated and accepted by the audience. We worked hard to make this work. Now as the movie is just about to release I just hope that people will understand our intentions and motive for making this movie.”

Neeru Bajwa, on the other hand said, “This is a concept that every Punjabi will relate to. As a mother, I understand the importance of our mother tongue for kids of the next generation. I just hope with this film we will be able to make a change without making people bored for even a moment. I am very excited about the release of ‘Uda Aida’

After the Punjabi movie ‘Heer and Hero’, he got active in Hindi cinema, but now he has made a comeback in the Punjabi cinema again. One of his films is ready for the release of ‘Jugni Yaraan Di’ and shooting of film ‘Mitran Nu Shonk Hathyaran Da’ is going to start soon. He said about the movie that the title of the film is telling that the film will be related to weapon, but instead of promoting the weapon, it will show what the consequences of choosing arms and its consequences.

According to Sagar, he had a desire to pull out cinema from traditional themes. He is keen to give a Punjabi audience a ‘Gangs of Wasseypur’ film. According to Sagar, this movie is a film of a young generation. It is written by his partner, Kumar Ajay. Accordingly, weapons always attack the youth, but the destruction of many young people is also the reason for the destruction. It will be shown in the film how and where the young victim loves arms. Where do these weapons take them and how the weapons used for self defence cause their destruction. According to Munna Shukal, the producer who is going to be associated with Punjabi cinema with this film, the Punjabi film industry has become a big trade, which has billions of business in it. They plan to make small budget films every year, in which new topics and new artists will be brought forward.

Deepak Joshi, Preet Baath, Veer Vashisht, Siddhi Ahuja and Mahima Hura, who played the leading role in the film, said that they all worked with director Sagar Sharma in the film ‘Jugni Yaraan Di’. This film has the ability to open many doors in their career of ‘Mitran Nu Shonk Hathyaran Da’. In the rapid transition of Punjabi cinema, films must be made on subjects that are directly related to young people. This film will bring forth their talent. If there’s one period in Indian history which cannot be forgotten regardless of the number of years passed since, then it has to be the phase leading to India-Pakistan partition in 1947! Weaving the emotions of people during that era, the friendships that thrived in the lanes of villages in ancient Punjab (when there was only One Punjab), and how the aftermaths of partition impacted such beautiful relationships, YAARA VE – Rakesh Mehta’s next, is all set to release on April 19.

Written by Rupinder Inderjit, Yaara Ve shall star Gagan Kokri, Yuvraj Hans and Raghveer as the three male leads and Monica Gill shall essay the role of the female lead. The story written by Rupinder Inderjit, is based on the friendship between three friends – Buta, Kishan and Nizamat urr Neza, and how life takes a beautiful turn when a girl named, Naseebo enters in Buta’s life. In the middle of the celebration night however, the news of partition breaks in and Hindus and Sikhs are left with no choice than to leave their village in Lahore and move to Amritsar. 

“This sudden twist in their lives results in a lot of complications. In the middle of this religious chaos, will the true friends remain true to their friendship? That’s what ‘Yaara Ve’ is all about,” says director Rakesh Mehta. He further adds, “It’s during my childhood that I heard so many tales of partition from my grandparents. Some of those stories remain stored in my subconscious forever; those stories form the bases of Yaara Ve’s plot.”

While Yuvika Chaudhary shall be seen as Jimmy’s love interest in the film, talented thespian Yashpal Sharma are shall be playing a pivotal role in the film as well. The film is directed by Manoj K Jha.
