With several new movie announcements happening at the beginning of the new year, here’s another one to join the list. Titled ‘Soch Toh Parey’, this new Punjabi movie will hit Punjabi cinema theatres in 2023.
Starring the pretty actress Isha Rikhi, Raghveer Boli, and Dheeraj Kumar in the lead, the film has been helmed by Pankaj Verma, fame ‘Ikko Mikke’ (2020) starring Aditi Sharma and Satinder Sartaaj.
Though the makers of the movie have not yet revealed the exact date of the film’s release, they did mention that it will make it to the big screen in 2023. As far as the writing credits are concerned, they go to Pankaj Verma himself.
The film has been produced by Surinder Sohanpal, Inder Nagra and Shiv Dhiman.
Zee Studios in association with V.H Entertainment announce the release date for their upcoming film ‘Godday Godday Chaa,’ the Sonam Bajwa starrer to release on 26th May 2023.
Zee Studios has been pioneering massive records in the regional entertainment business along with immense success in mainstream Bollywood films. Zee Studios’ regional cinema was received well by the audience last year. Continuing its momentum, Zee Studios is all set to release its next film, ‘Godday Godday Chaa’ in association with V.H Entertainment on 26th May 2023.
The film stars Sonam Bajwa, Tania, Gitaz Bindrakhia and Gurjazz in pivotal roles. ‘Godday Godday Chaa’ is written by ‘Qismat 2’ fame Jagdeep Sidhu and shall be directed by the National award-winning director (Harjeeta) Vijay Kumar Arora who also directed the superhit film, ‘Guddiyan Patole.’
Shariq Patel, CBO, Zee Studios, added, “Godday Godday Chaa’ is a thought-provoking take against the male chauvinist. We believe it is essential to tell such stories that redefine women empowerment with dollops of entertainment.”
Vijay k Arora, director of the film further shared, “‘Godday Godday Chaa’ is a heart-warming satire on the male-dominated society of the 90s. It depicts how women took a stand for themselves and created a breakthrough. We are sure the audiences are going to love the film!”
The audiences have given immense love to the BTS and posters shared on digital platforms. Sonam Bajwa’s post featuring her character ‘Raani’ from the film drew adulation from fans across the world proving the excitement of the audiences for the Zee Studios-led film.
Major multiplexes operating in the Punjabi film industry have changed their theatrical window from four weeks to eight weeks, according to a letter from ZEE Studios to the Producers Guild of India. Punjabi film producers and distributors are being asked to sign an undertaking before the release of their films, agreeing to an 8-week holdback window. This letter comes after a unilateral decision was taken by newly merged multiplexes, which has been met with criticism from industry professionals.
The decision to extend the windowing period for Punjabi films has been seen as a lopsided move that will benefit a few, at the cost of the entire industry’s profitability. It is believed that the extended windowing will cause significant damage to the financial success of Punjabi films. This decision was made without complete industry participation and due diligence.
Punjabi films are known to receive the lowest percentage shares amongst all film categories in the country, despite having similar average ticket rates to Hindi language films. The Punjabi industry releases over 70 films a year, and with lower revenue shares and extended windowing, they may end up losing out due to a monopolistic scenario created by the multiplexes.
The situation has been deemed as unfortunate by ZEE Studios, and they have called on the Guild and all stakeholders to come together to discuss all pros and cons of the situation and arrive at a mutually beneficial resolution. This move by major multiplexes in the Punjabi film industry could harm all parties in the long run.
This decision has sparked a debate on social media, with many people expressing their concern about the lopsided nature of the decision. It is hoped that the Producers Guild of India will take a stance on the matter and help resolve the issue to ensure that all parties in the Punjabi film industry are treated fairly.
Binnu Dhillon – one of the most versatile and finest actors in the Punjabi film industry – who’s known for his perfect comic timing and delightful acting prowess, is all set to amuse his fans with another quirky, slapstick comedy – ‘GOLGAPPE’ which is slated to release on February 17.
Directed by ‘King of Comedy’, Smeep Kang – with whom Binnu Dhillon has worked in a number of blockbusters like Carry on Jatta series, Vadhayiyan Ji Vadhayiyan, Lucky Di Unlucky Story, Band Vaaje, and many more, GOLGAPPE is produced by Zee Studios, and also stars Rajat Bedi, B.N.Sharma, Navneet Dhillon, Ihana Dhillon, and Dilawar Sidhu in pivotal roles.
Talking about his role in the movie, Binnu Dhillon plays ‘Jaggi’ in Golgappe, a golden-hearted but dimwit man, who works under BN Sharma (Nathu), a miser. Jaggi doesn’t like to work much, and together with Nathu and his tenant Rajat Bedi (Pali) plans to kidnap a woman to amass more money easily. However, since they are not professional, their attempt at kidnapping and then seeking ransom is what leads to situational comedy. Now whether they get successful in doing the perfect crime or not, is something that will be revealed once the movie is out.

Sony Sab’s Dil Diyaan Gallan is a story of three generations with their roots in Punjab. It explores the journey of a family where the first two generations refuse to forgive and forget but are forced to face their past and hopefully heal when the third-generation steps in. Releasing on December 9, 2022, ‘Snowman’ starring Neeru Bajwa, Jazzy B, Rana Ranbir, and Arshi Khatkar in the lead, seems to be an interesting upcoming Punjabi film that’s going to be based on the “Dark Side Of Canada”.
The first song from the movie, ‘ Jatt Bolde’, has already become on music streaming platforms, and now the film’s trailer is also all set to be out. The’ Snowman’ trailer will be on YouTube on November 18, 2022.
Directed by Aman Khatkar, the movie is touted to be a crime thriller. The subheading of the film reads – “The dark side of Canada”. The story has been written by Rana Ranbir.t
