Deepika Padukone, who is currently promoting her social film made on the life of an acid attack survivor – Chhapaak- recently visited Punjab to have a conversation with Punjab’s one of the top heroines – Sonam Bajwa. 

The Bollywood Queen Deepika Padukone, today shared a very special picture of hers with Punjabi cinema’s queen Sonam Bajwa on her Instagram profile with a very beautiful caption. She wrote:

This picture of Deepika Padukone is receiving a lot of love and ‘likes’ from both Deepika and Sonam’s fans. At the time of posting this news, the number of likes on this picture totals over 10 lakh on Deepika’s account. On the other hand, Sonam Bajwa has also shared a glimpse of her recent interaction with Deepika.

Sonam complimented Deepika in her image caption and said that she just couldn’t stop admiring the latter’s beauty. 

Here we would like to inform our readers that the reason the two beauties from Bollywood and Pollywood came together was due to Deepika Padukone’s promotional interview for her film Chhapaak. This interview show will be telecast on the night of PTC channel on 2nd January 2020. 

Chhapaak is a film that Deepika Padukone recently said is “very close to her heart’. While releasing the trailer in front of media, Deepika had even broken down. She was also quoted as saying that there were a few scenes of the film that she felt really uncomfortable and stifling performing in front of the camera. 

Chhapaak will release on 10th January 2020. 

On the other hand, Sonam Bajwa is also busy these days in the promotion of her first fully romantic film called ‘Jinde Meriye’ in which she is playing the role of ‘Rehmat’ opposite her Singham co-star – Parmish Verma. Jinde Meriye’s trailer is already out. The film will hit the theatres on 24th January. It is directed and produced by Pankaj Batra, the man behind films like Bambukat and Sajjan Singh Rangroot. 

It is not uncommon to see Bollywood stars coming to give interviews to regional film stars during their film promotions. Aamir Khan was the first one to give interview to ‘Gippy Grewal’ while promoting his film Dhoom 3. Then Shahrukh Khan, Varun Dhawan and Kriti Sanon also gave interviews to Diljit Dosanjh in December 2015 during one of their film promotions. 

No doubt, this kind of promotional activity benefits not just the Bollywood stars but also the regional stars in gaining nationwide popularity. Even the fans of regional stars feel utterly delighted to watch their idols getting so much attention and importance from big Bollywood stars. Isn’t it a win-win situation for all parties concerned?

The year 2019 has proved to be a little better in terms of business for Punjabi movie industry. While on one hand we had a super-successful film in commercial cinema category as Diljit Dosanjh and Neeru Bajwa’s ‘Shadaa’, another blockbuster surprisingly turned out to be Ardaas Karaan (a non-commercial movie) written, directed and produced by Gippy Grewal. 

In between, Binnu Dhillon and Sargun Mehta gave a superb comedy called ‘Kala Shah Kala’ which saw some powerful performances by both actors who turned producers for this film. 

How can we also forget Tarsem Jassar’s Uda Aida which was again a very different film from the ordinary run-of-the-mill stories and ended up churning a lot of moolah at the box-office as well. 

According to a data compiled by Punjabi Cinema – Box Office, some 13 films out of a total of 60 turned out to be “successful” from financial viewpoint. So here we go:

One look at Zakhmi’s teaser and we are immediately awe-struck. Though one is expected to feel thrilled when it comes to watching anything related to a usual Dev Kharoud movie, be it a teaser or trailer or a dialogue promo, yet Zakhmi’s teaser marks a strong statement right away! 

From the teaser, Zakhmi seems to be a story of a family man who is determined to protect his family at any cost. Played by Dev Kharoud, this man has a wife (played by Aanchal Singh) and a daughter, who he can go at any length to protect from the social evils. 

Release Date of Zakhmi is 7th February 2020. 

While more details about the story of Zakhmi would be out when its trailer is released. However, this Inderpal Singh directorial has certainly made a good impression on the audiences’ minds with just its teaser, so far. 

The look and expressions of both Dev Kharoud and Aanchal Singh are apt and match to the subject of the movie. Praise is equally being showered by fans on the child artiste of Zakhmi. 

As far as Dev Kharoud’s other movie projects are concerned, he’ll be seen in the most awaited sequel of Daakuan Da Munda in 2020 along with a movie named Daler. On the other hand, the producer of Zakhmi, Binnu Dhillon would be appearing as an actor in couple of Punjabi movies like Golgappe, Welcome Bua ji, Jagga and more. 

One of the highlights of Zakhmi is that model Aanchal Singh is making her Punajbi movie debut with Zakhmi. Her updates on her social media accounts about Zakhmi are quite interesting which shows that she’s certainly having a lot of fun doing Zakhmi. 

Apart from that the rich content dealing with social issues, is what can help Zakhmi stand out from the rest of Punjabi movies.

As far as production credits of Zakhmi are concerned, it is being jointly produced by Binnu Dhillon and Ashu Munish Sahni from Omjee Star Studios. Punjabi movie Zakhmi is directed by Inderpal Singh.
