Releasing on April 12, 2019, ‘Manje Bistre 2’ will star Simi Chahal along with Gippy Grewal. It is a sequel to 2017 released ‘Manje Bistre’. The movie has been produced by Gippy Grewal’s Humble Motion Pictures.

Baljit Singh Deo who helmed the first installment of the film has directed the second part as well.

For the past few weeks, Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala was seen campaigning for his mother Charan Kaur, who was contesting for the post of sarpanch at Moosa village in Mansa district. Certainly, his door-to-door campaign has born results as Ms. Charan Kaur is now the new sarpanch of this village.  

During the campaign, reports reveal that Moose Wala, accompanied by his youth fans, was attracting many people from the nearby areas, who were reaching to get their photo clicked with him. He was also seen seeking blessings from elders and asking villagers to vote for his mother for the development of the village.

Sidhu Moosewala, in a recent media interview said that he was campaigning with his mother to work on the issue of development of the village. He claimed that they had many proposals for the village and if they win, they would provide water and get sewerage laid in the village.

According to The Tribune (Bathinda), he also said they were against the distribution of liquor and drugs during the poll campaign and instead would fight against drugs. He also claimed that he had never sung any song on liquor and he appealed to the youth to stay away from drugs. 

We hope what Shubhdeep Singh aka Sidhu Moose Wala has said, he would always remember that! We congratulate his mother for this victory. Reports said, Charan Kaur won by a margin of about 600 votes.

Harbhajan Mann, the legendary Punjabi singer and actor, who’s known for singing well-meaning songs highlighting Punjab’s rich heritage, culture and traditions, shared a video today on his Facebook profile that went viral within hours! 

In the video, Punjabi celebrties like Kapil Sharma and Mika Singh are seen celebrating his 53rd birthday. We can also see Punjabi cinema’s ace director Ksshitij Chaudhary in the video. Perhaps we can spot Kapil Sharma’s mother also there! What say?

With 2018 being the year of innovative cinema, 2019 is ready to welcome us with even fresher subjects and awesome pairings. One of the most awaited films of the first quarter of 2019 is certainly, Tarsem Jassar and Neeru Bajwa starrer ‘UDA AIDA’ which is all set to release on 1st Feb. 

It’s first official poster was revealed today and boasts of a strong message within a vibrant theme. With both Tarsem and Neeru sitting together with a cute child in school uniform in the middle, the film seems to be based on the subject of ‘education’. In the poster, Tarsem and Neeru are carrying the placards of Punjabi and English alphabets respectively, while the child is joyfully standing behind the backdrop of a blackboard with ‘Angrezi Sikho written in gurmukhi.’

Looking at the poster, it seems a lot of thought has gone into delivering the concept that it’s based on. Seemingly, it enforces the importance of teaching Punjabi  in today’s schools, which emphasize on learning English and foreign languages mostly. 

Uda Aida Releases on 1st February 2019.

Another Mandy Takhar starrer film that’s releasing in 2019 is called ‘Lukan Michi’. The film will see the first-time-pairing of Mandy Takhar and Preet Harpal.

Recently, the shoot of the film underwent and star cast of Lukan Michi shared the pictures on their social media accounts. Along with the main leads, Amrit Aulakh, Karamjit Anmol, Guggu Gill, BN Sharma, Sardar Sohi, Nirmal Rishi, Harby Sangha, and many new faces will also be there. The story of the film is written by Raju Verma. M Hundal will helm this project. Bumbal B Productions are venturing into producing films with this movie. Canada-based reputed NRI businessmen Avtar Singh Bal and Bikram Bal are producers of Lukan Michi. 

Speaking about his long break from film industry, singer/actor Preet Harpal said, “I have been on a break for a long time because I wanted a perfect script to work on. And Lukan Michi is exactly what I always wanted to do. Raju Verma has done a great job in writing a gripping tale. The whole star cast is amazing and I am feeling lucky that I have got a chance to share the screen with them. I just hope I will be able to live up to everyone’s expectations.” 

Lukan Michi will release in April 2019, the exact date is yet to be revealed.

After hosting a grand wedding in Amritsar, wherein a most of the artistes from Punjabi entertainment industry, graced the occasion, Kapil Sharma and Ginni Chatrath hosted a big bash in Mumbai yesterday. A lavish event replete with stars from both the tinsel town and our Punjabi industry, marked their presence here. Nationally popular Punjabi artists Yo Yo Honey Singh, Jazzy B, and Guru Randhawa graced the reception and wished the newlyweds a great life ahead.

Vadda Kalakaar – the comeback film of famous Punjabi singer and musician Alfaaz is in news for some time due to its smashing trailer and stupendous starcast! With veterans like Yograj Singh and BN Sharma in it along with Diamond fame, Roopi Gill in a prominent role, Vadda Kalakaar traces the journey of a struggling actor who gets inspired to foray into films after watching movies on the ‘VCRs’ – a trend during early 90s in Punjab.

Interestingly, according to the producer Prince Amrit Juneja, one of the best roles in this film belongs to Yograj Singh – who isn’t actually what is shown in the trailer!

“Like most Punjabis, I’ve been a die-hard fan of Yograj ji and it’s indeed my great luck that he agreed to be a part of this film. In fact, you’d be surprised to see that Yograj Singh’s role is not what is shown in the trailer. He is something/someone altogether different in the film, something that I can’t reveal to you right now! Also, Yograj Singh has put in not just his best foot forward professionally but also immersed with the crew on a personal level. He motivated me a lot and also revealed that he hasn’t done this kind of role ever in his life before,” he said in an exclusive interview to us.

Vadda Kalakaar brought to you by Red Castle Motion pictures (Prince Amrit Juneja and Satish Katyal being the main producers), releases on 28th December. The movie clashes with another Punjabi film called Titanic. However, the producers of this film remain unperturbed. “We are so confident about our product and the concept that this movie is about that competition doesn’t matter. We wish every Punjabi film becomes successful as a lot of effort of a lot many people goes into making it,” says Katyal. 

The director of the film, Kuldeep Kaushik, has to say this about his film, “The main character (Alfaaz) gets inspired by the film industry and he wishes to become a hero, but he has to face many frauds and undergo several struggles to achieve his goal. His struggle is filled with innumerable interesting incidents that will surely leave the audience laughing.”

With a plethora of films lined up for year 2019, practically all actors from our little tinsel town are occupied with one film or another. Mandy Takhar and Jobanpreet Singh are also busy the same way! The duo coming up for the first time together on silver screen is shooting currently for their film ‘Saak’.

Slated to release on 7th June 2019, ‘Saak’ is touted to be a period war drama with some elements of romance added to it. The movie has been written by Kamaljit Singh and he is the one who is directing the same. Along with Jobanpreet Singh and Mandy Takhar, the movie also stars Mukul Dev, Dilawar Sidhu, Rupinder Rupi, Sonpreet Jawanda, Gurdeep Brar and Mahabir Bhullar.

The Producers Guild of India has hailed the decision of government to reduce GST on cinema tickets as a “progressive step” which will help the industry “move forward positively”.

According to a statement, the Guild is happy with the reduction of GST on film tickets, exceeding Rs 100 to 18 percent from 28 percent and up to Rs 100 to 12 percent from 18 percent. 

“This will help the industry move forward positively with increased investments in both exhibition infrastructure and creative development. We look forward to continuing to engage with the government on initiatives that will help to unleash the full potential of the film industry,” Siddharth Roy Kapur, President of Producers Guild of India said in a statement.

For movie tickets priced below Rs. 100 the tax has been reduced from 18% to 12% now and for tickets priced above Rs. 100 the tax has been reduced from 28% to 18% now.

As far as Punjabi film industry goes, Whitehill Studios’ owners Gunbir Singh Sidhu and Manmord Sidhu expressed their gratitude to the government as well. They both unanimously welcomed the move and said that this move shall take a lot of burden off Punjabi film producers enabling them to come up with even better cinema and greater screen density.”
