These days, Punjabis are seen spreading their wings across foreign lands and while it appears to be a fairytale when seen at a glance, the challenges that they encounter are fathomless and Amrinder Gill & Simi Chahal’s upcoming Punjabi movie provides an insider’s view into the same.
A light-hearted comedy drama movie, Chal Mera Putt narrates the story of a group of illegal immigrants who are living in the city of Birmingham, United Kingdom. The film explores the struggles they face, the lasting friendships they make and the insurmountable challenges they overcome while trying to get their permanent residency.
It was only a few days ahead of the release when the lead actors of the movie, Amrinder Gill who will be seen playing the role of Jinder and Simi Chahal who will be seen in the shoes of Savy took to their social media handles to announce Chal Mera Putt’s release on 26th July. Gill also disclosed that it is an Indo-Pakistan collaboration with many Pakistani actors on-board. “Thanks for everything Thakur saab, Nasir bhaji and Akram bhaji. Learnt a lot from you. #chalmeraputt 26th July worldwide,” he shared.
The feature film directorial debut of Janjot Singh, Chal Mera Putt is co-produced Karaj Gill and Ashu Munish Sahni under the label of Rhythm Boyz Entertainment, Gillz Network and Omjee Star Studios. Chal Mera Putt stars Amrinder Gill, Simi Chahal, Gurshabad, and Hardeep Gill. The movie also stars some famous Pakistani actors including Iftikhar Thakur, Nasir Chinyoti and Akramudas.

A light-hearted slapstick comedy which is taken to impressive heights by the humour generated by Nasir and Akram Udas together, makes ‘Chal Mera Putt’, a cut-above the rest. While Amrinder Gill and Simi Chahal’s cute yet ‘full-of-suspense’ romance keeps the audience engaged till the end, it’s the character artistes like Hardeep Gill and Gurshabd that provide a roller-coaster of emotions to the audience throughout the film.
Though touted as a comedy, Chal Mera Putt has elements of emerging as a complete entertainer, as its story is not an ‘ordinary’ one. It traces the ups and downs of real life while touching on various aspects of human life and their connections. In addition, the movie successfully manages to dive into the Indo-Pak tiff between its common people, and how the realization that even though divided by borders, after all, they are basically all just Punjabis at heart, going through the similar struggles and sufferings of life.
If the Pakistani actors did their job extremely well, the Indians were not left behind. Amrinder Gill kept the audience entertained throughout the film throwing his grace and charm in every frame he featured in. Simi looks absolutely adorable as a decent, educated and responsible girl studying, living and working abroad. Her hairdo and outfits suit her well and her performance is just how it was needed in the movie.
Hardeep Gill as a ‘Dholi’ steals the show with his mature performance and Harshdeep is well-suited in the role of a young illegal migrant. Akram Udas deserves a special mention once again for not just his comic act but showcasing a multi-layered performance effortlessly.
While we were not totally impressed by the cinematography of the film that included some shots perhaps using hand-held cameras? And some strange angles! But the soundtrack album by Dr Zeus and Gurcharan Singh, work in the favour of the movie.

A day was dedicated to celebrate International Yoga Day was organized by Invest Punjab ,Govt of Punjab in collaboration with Dr. Gulshan Sharma DG ICSI.
S Balbir Singh Sidhu, the honorable minister of health and family welfare, Govt of Punjab was the chief guest for gracious occasion and the event witnessed the participation of eminent personalities from sectors of wellness tourism and aesthetics, educationists, yoga enthusiasts and fitness gurus from Punjab and Pan India joined in the celebration.
The day progressed with a series of sessions that illuminated the growing popularity of Yoga the world over and its unsurmountable significance in attaining optimum wellness. Experts shared the common platform and exchanged their views and experiences about yoga and how this ancient Indian practice is proving to be a gamechanger for the wellness tourism sector. However, the need for spreading awareness about the benefits of yoga for addressing several health issues was also deliberated upon. Ways and means to spread the benefits further were also discussed during the day-long conclave.

By incorporating practices of yoga in your daily routine you can ward off many health issues. Yoga remains a perfect way to lead towards the alignment of the body-mind, self, and intelligence. Richa highlighted these points during the conference while also raising pertinent questions on the subject.

In addition, to dedicate the day in the name of Yoga, DR Gulshan Sharma DG ICSI the organizer of the event also presented vital input on bringing Punjab on the world medical tourism Map and improving infrastructure. Preparedness of associated departments in ensuring smooth management for tourists was also discussed and possibilities to tap the potential and means to plug in the loopholes were explored too.
