While enough has been said about the lead hero (Gippy himself) and heroine (Zareen Khan), a lot still needs to be said about film’s main antagonist ‘Sukhchain’ played Punjabi film industry’s one of the best and most versatile actor Hobby Dhaliwal.
While speaking exclusively to www.iampunjaabi.com, Gippy, who’s himself penned Daaka’s story, said that for him it was an absolute delight to write Hobby Dhaliwal’s character.
“The writer in me automatically feels extremely elated in writing such characters that are meant to be prented larger-than-life on-screen, sometimes even larger than the protagonist,” he said.
“I had to give a lot of thought behind how Sukhchain will make an entry in the movie, what background music will introduce him, what would be the first terrorizing words that he would utter and so on. I must say that not only Hobby ji but also the director, Baljit Singh Deo, supported me a lot in bringing this character alive on the screen in such an iconic way. “

After hooking the audience with two fantastic numbers (Phulkari and Koyi Aaye Na Rabba) from the film, the makers of Daaka today released the most awaited, title track of the movie. Crooned by Himmat Sandhu, the lyrics of the same have been penned by Happy Raikoti while the music has been composed by Jay K.
In an interview, Himmat Sandhu said, “Gippy bhaji has always encouraged and paved way for new talent to come forth in the industry. So getting such a big opportunity of singing the title track of his upcoming film Daaka was a very big thing for me. This is a song which will pump the audience and fill them with fresh energy. I am sure that the audience is liking the song.”
Daaka, which is releasing on November 1, stars Gippy Grewal and Zareen Khan in the lead roles and the movie is directed by Baljit Singh Deo. Other prominent actors include Rana Ranbir, Mukul Dev, Prince K.J, Hobby Dhaliwal, Shavinder Mahal, Ravinder Mand, Baninder Bunny, Rana Jung Bahadur, and Shehnaaz Gill.
The story and screenplay of the film is written by Gippy Grewal while Daaka is produced by Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar, Gippy Grewal and Ravneet Kaur Grewal. Jatinder Shah, Aditya Dev, Jay K and Rochak Kohli are music directors of the film. Vinod Bhanushali and Vinod Aswal are the co-producers of ‘Daaka’.

The screening was in association with Radio Mirchi and HDFC bank and saw the leading lady Sonam Bajwa, and the male leads Ajay Sarkaria and Ninja interacting with the audience during interval.
While Ninja praised Sonam for playing the role of ‘Babbu Bains’ with elan, saying that “no one could play this role better than her”, Sonam thanked the gesture with equal appreciation. She said, “I haven’t got the as best the co-stars as Ninja and Ajay in my film career so far. They supported me so much and I got to learn a lot from them.”
Ninja also talked about his and Ajay’s friendship that blossomed on the sets of Ardab Mutiyaran.

While much has been talked about the boisterous character of ‘Babbu Bains’ played by the very talented Sonam Bajwa, a little has been known about the ‘men in the lives of Ardab Mutiyaran’ so far.
Playing her romantic interest is Ajay Sarkaria, a new entrant in the Punjabi film industry, and the role of Sonam’s good friend is played by the superstar singer Ninja. While Sonam plays a boss lady who is a finance recover agent, Ninja will be seen stepping into the shoes of Vicky Ahuja, a young boy next door character, whereas Ajay will be playing the role of Rinku Bansal, the youngest brother and owner of Bansal Sweets.
Talking about working with the debutant Ajay, Ninja said that both of them shared a good camaraderie off the screen and their ‘bromance’ is something that’ll be clearly visible on screen also. Echoing the same thoughts, Ajay feels that it was simply a pleasure working with Ninja and getting inspired from his ‘terrific’ real-life weight-loss journey.
Throwing light on his role in the movie, Ninja says, “Vicky Ahuja is a very relatable character of a boy who is suppressed under the corporate slavery culture. It is only later when a strong lady supports him to break the shackles that he finds his way through the suppression.”
Providing a sneak-peek into his role, Ajay says, “Rinku is a very decent and simple boy who is being dominated by his brother’s wife. However, destiny unfolds in a different manner to rewrite his tale of love”.
When asked about the “boys”, the leading lady Sonam said that she was absolutely at ease with working with them. “I am really happy to have had the opportunity to work with an awesome human being like Ninja and a superbly talented actor like Ajay. Both of them made sure that we, girls, are absolutely comfortable on the sets. The best part was when they helped me in learning ‘masculine’ gestures and expressions which helped me a great deal in fitting in the shoes of the tomboyish – ‘Babbu Bains’”, reminisces Sonam.
