It won’t be an exaggeration to say that Binnu Dhillon comedy films are famous allover the world even among non-Punjabis. His immense contribution to Punjabi cinema both as an actor and as a producer has taken Punjabi film industry’s level many notches above than what it was around 6-7 years ago.
His iconic roles as Goldy or Gill Bai have made many a Punjabi his fans be it in India, Pakistan, UK or anywhere in the world where Punjabis live. Not only this, Binnu Dhillon’s ‘Troll face’ is famous even among non-Punjabis.
His comic chemistry with Jaswinder Bhalla is especially loved by the Punjabi audience. Whether it’s Carry On Jatta series or Mr and Mrs 420, Bhalla-Binnu combination is always eagerly awaited for.
Just to give you heads-up, we have compiled a list of Binnu Dhillon’s comedy movies that are going to release in 2020. See below:
1. GOLGAPPE: Binnu Dhillon’s first Punjabi movie of 2020 is definitely a comedy one which is being directed by none other than ‘king of comedies’ Smeep Kang. The film also stars Aarushi Sharma and Navneet Dhillon in the lead roles. Golgappe will make its way in the theatres on 10th April 2020.
2. Phatte Dinde Chakk Punjabi: Another of Binnu Dhillon’s comedy films this year, will be produced by Gippy Grewal’s Humble Motion Pictures. The highlight of this film is going to be its heroine, who’ll be working for the first time with Binnu Dhillon in Phatte Dinde Chakk Punjabi. Releasing on 19th July, this film stars Zareen Khan in the lead role opposite Binnu Dhillon.
3. Welcome Bua Ji: Another comic flick starring Binnu Dhillon will be releasing on August 21 this year. Named Welcome Bua Ji, this film will also be directed by Smeep Kang. Not much details of the film are revealed yet apart from the fact this will also be produced by Binnu Dhillon.

5. Jagga 7/51 (Tentative): Another Binnu Dhillon’s movie which was announced last year is Jagga 7/51. Though Jagga 7/51’s release date wasn’t announced then, but we’ve been informed that this film will get shot in 2020 and release in 2021. This will also be produced by Binnu Dhillon but it will not be a comedy. Presumably, Jagga 7/51 will show Binnu Dhillon as a gray-shaded character and the film might be an action thriller with a strong storyline.
Besides the above list, Binnu Dhillon will also be making a mark as a “producer” quite early in 2020 with Dev Kharoud and Anchal Singh starrer ‘Zakhmi’. Zakhmi’s teaser is already out. It will be releasing on 6th March. Zakhmi is an action-thriller.

When Kabir Bedi Played A Sikh In A James Bond Movie #SikhsInHollywood
Perhaps not many are aware of the fact that global actor Kabir Bedi has represented Sikhs in Hollywood by featuring as a Sikh henchman in a Roger Moore starrer James Bond movie.
A 1983 Bond movie called Octopussy, the thirteenth in the James Bond series produced by Eon Productions, and the sixth to star Roger Moore as James Bond, the movie had a character named Gobinda, a Sikh guy. Interestingly, Bedi had a famous scene in the movie where he fought with Bond on top of a moving train with a sword in hand.
Bedi had a famous scene in the movie where he fought with Bond on top of a moving train with a sword in hand.
Reminiscing his role, Bedi told to a leading portal,
“Of the five months over which Octopussy was shot, Roger and I spent two months together. A lot of scenes were shot in London’s Pinewood studios, where a lot of historic Bond films—and the famous train fight scenes from Octopussy—were shot. We also filmed a major part in Rajasthan.
We were staying at the Taj Lake Palace, where the villas overlook the lake. There was a beautiful oval pool surrounded by hotel suites, where we would gather in the evenings after the shoot and sit and chat.
Roger was an introverted man. He wasn’t very forthcoming in the beginning and it took me some time to break the ice and get to know him. Roger’s mother was born in Calcutta (now Kolkata) and he was interested in hearing about my parents’ participation in the freedom struggle. He knew that I was famous in India, and in Italy for The Black Corsair, and he treated me like an equal. He would try to help out other actors in a scene, and I don’t remember him losing his temper even once.
Now, I am a fan of Sean Connery. I have grown up watching those movies and he remains the definitive Bond for me. But what Roger brought was a wry sense of humour and a lightness to the role, a tradition which was carried forward by Pierce Brosnan. We didn’t see the more muscular Bond making a comeback until Daniel Craig. Roger would introduce unexpected humour into scenes, because he would joke about practically everything.
There is a scene in Octopussy where he comes across a tiger in the jungle. He sat and spoke to it like he is talking to a dog. There was another moment during the shoot which I remember for his impish humour. I was wearing an elaborate turban which was completely white. It almost looked like a bandage. When he saw me on the set, he asked, ‘Are you feeling better now?’
Moore’s sense of humour was very British. But he was more European than English or American, especially in the later stages of his life, after his marriage to the Danish Kristina ‘Kiki’ Tholstrup. That last marriage, I believe, gave him a lot of happiness. We in the movies move on after working on one project. Roger and I had exchanged some messages later and would find out about each other through mutual friends. I didn’t know about his cancer, though.
If you scratched the surface, Roger could also show a profound philosophical side. I remember taking walks with him in the English countryside, talking about love, birth and death.”
