Gippy Grewal and Sargun Mehta starrer ‘Chandigarh Amritsar Chandigarh’ has finally got released. Heart-warming romance, unique storyline, extremely powerful performances and light-hearted comedy are the best takeaways from the film and make it a perfect film to watch this weekend.
Here’s what made us say Wow after watching Chandigarh Amritsar Chandigarh in theatres last evening:
1. The mind-blowing chemistry between Gippy and Sargun: It is for the first time that Sargun Mehta and Gippy Grewal worked together for a film and with all honesty, we can tell you that they both make an awesome pair. Their arguments switch between being fiery and sweet, making them sound so relatable and close-to-life. The dialogues are cleverly written and keep you hooked till the end. While Sargun’s chutzpah keeps us glued to the screen, we can’t help applauding our #Ambarsariya for his cheerful yet strong personality.
2. Amritsar: Perhaps no other film in Punjabi cinema has so far captured a Punjabi city on camera like Karan Guilani’s Chandigarh Amritsar Chandigarh has. Amritsar isn’t just a backdrop here, but in fact, it’s a strong character in the movie itself. The makers have made sure to cover all the significant locales of the holy city. Each frame looks beautiful and replete with Amritsar’s vibrance. The movie certainly makes you feel like visiting Amritsar soon.
3. Fresh Story: The tale of just one day (inspired from Marathi film Mumbai-Pune-Mumbai) is a completely fresh phenomenon in Punjabi cinema and the way the director has steered it with his efficient vision and passion for detail, has left a strong impact on the audiences who are used to watching regular cinema.
4. Just two characters: Punjabi movies are deemed incomplete without a certain set of veteran actors. We got to have multi-starrer films to have success at box-office! But not anymore. The team of CAC has pulled the story based on the life of just two strangers so well that it has for sure, paved a way for more experiments in our cinema. Here we must give it to the duo of Sargun Mehta and Gippy Grewal, the two most brilliant actors here who have given their all to this film. Their chemistry is natural, their acting doesn’t appear like “acting” on the screen, and above all, they both look awesome on screen together. Both Gippy and Sargun must do more movies together – this pairing can go a long way for sure.
5. Naresh Kathooria: The one sequence in the film that makes the kids laugh out real hard is that involving Naresh Kathooria, (the dialogue and screenplay writer of the film). His little appearance in the movie as an elderly man literally steals the show. The sidetrack of Rajpal Yadav also adds some value to the film instead of distracting the audience from the main storyline.
Overall, Chandigarh Amritsar Chandigarh can be a perfect weekend getaway for you if you are bored of regular period multi-starrer family dramas!
The wait is finally over for Muklawa is all set to hit the silver screen. Here’s what makes us even more excited about its release!
1. Adorable chemistry of Sonam Bajwa & Ammy Virk: One of the most-loved duo of Ballewood, Sonam Bajwa & Ammy Virk who were earlier seen in movies like Nikka Zaildar and Nikka Zaildar 2, will now be seen as Shinda and Taaro, a couple who departs due to ‘Muklawa’. More than co-actors, the duo have admitted to be close friends with each other which made the on-screen chemistry appear to be even more adorable.
“It was very easy working with Ammy since we have worked together earlier and he is a friend also. We have a really nice tuning owing to which we had a very cordial environment on the set,” shared Sonam.
“I had a really good experience working with Sonam and since we’ve been friends since a long time, it was even easier,” Ammy further added
2. An Epitome of Art: The strongest pillar of any movie lies in the artistic element that it holds and while speaking to the Producer of the movie, Manmord Sidhu, we figured out that Muklawa has been shot with an artistic eye. “Whenever there is a period film, art plays an indispensable role in it. However, creating that bygone era is not really as easy as it seems and it demands the investment of a lot of time and resources. So, we travelled to Ganganagar where a majority part of the shoot was done. It was an amazing experience and the final product has come out to be great,” shared Manmord Sidhu.
3. Sneak-Peak into the bygone days in a Punjab’s Pind: It is an undeniable fact that there’s so much to our ‘pind’ that we are missing out on, drowning in the hustle-bustle of rapid urbanization. Staying true to one such ritual of Punjabi culture, ‘Muklawa’ provides a sneak-peak into the wedding customs which were followed in Punjab. It narrates the story of a tradition which dictated that a newlywed woman should stay back at her parents` house for a while after her wedding. While shooting for the movie, the lead actress Sonam Bajwa admitted that she reminisces the days when she lived in her pind. “I hail my roots from the traditional Punjab and I know how different life is there. Even while shooting for the movie, we received a lot of love by the people who lived there and got the opportunity to eat those delectable delicacies of dal & roti regularly,” she said with a wide smile on her face.
4. Foot-tapping music: The tracks of Muklawa including Kala Suit, Gulabi Paani, Jutti, Boliyaan, Rabb Jaane, Dawayi, and Ehnu Muklawa Aakhde have already set the social media ablaze with the melodious music and meaningful lyrics; adding a lively vibe to the much-awaited movie.
Directed by Simerjit Singh, Muklawa is produced by Gunbir Singh Sidhu & Manmord Sidhu under the banner of White Hill Studios in association with Grey Slate Pictures. Muklawa also stars Gurpreet Ghuggi, B.N. Sharma, Karamjit Anmol, Sarabjit Cheema, Drishtii Grewal, and Nirmal Rishi in prominent roles. The storyline is penned by Upinder Waraich and Jagjit Saini.
