Chal Mera Putt 2 – which has created a storm on the box-office worldwide ever since its post-pandemic re-release in August this year, has become the top Punjabi grosser ever overseas in the history of Punjabi cinema. Interestingly, now Amrinder Gill’s movies bag the two top positions in the list of the highest ever Punjabi movie grossers overseas.
While the top position is secured by Chal Mera Putt 2, the second is held closely by Chal Mera Putt (Released in 2019) and the third position belongs to Harry Baweja’s animated film, Chaar Sahibzaade.
According to BoxofficeIndia.com, Chal Mera Putt 2 has crossed the $3.63 million mark of the first installment and in just 10 days has reached the figure of $3.65 million overseas. The way the movie theatres are being thronged right now with full sold out shows, it looks like Chal Mera Putt 2 is going past the $4 million mark and maybe even $4.50 million. In Canada it will cross the $2 million mark which has only been done by 3 Idiots, PK and Dangal easily making it the biggest Punjabi film.
Another fascinating fact is that even before its release last month, Chal Mera Putt 2’s Thursday shows were all sold-out in Canada – the country where there’s no dearth of ardent Amrinder Gill’s fans. Now as the movie successfully, enters its second week, the fans frenzy has only doubled, with jam-packed theatres and sold-out shows.
