The Punjabi film industry is today enjoying international acclaim from Punjabis residing across the globe. However, some Punjabi actresses have equally carved a niche in the South Indian film industry. These actresses have not only surpassed the ‘Punjabi’ following but also received appreciation and recognition from fans in South India for their acting acumen and finesse. Here’s more about these trailblazing women!

1. Sonam Bajwa: Indian model and actress, Sonam Bajwa is one of the most-loved actresses of the Punjabi film industry. Bajwa made her debut in Pollywood in the year 2013 with ‘Best Of Luck’ directed by Manmord Sidhu and ever since then, there has been no turning back. Bajwa gave an array of blockbuster movies like Punjab 1984, Nikka Zaildar, Muklawa, Manje Bistre, and lots more. However, the success story of Bajwa doesn’t end here.  She made her debut in Tamil cinema with romantic comedy drama movie, ‘Kappal’. In 2016, she made her Telugu debut with action and romance movie, ‘Aatadukundam Raa’.

2. Aditi Sharma: The journey for Aditi Sharma started with the South Indian film industry wherein she proved her mettle in three Telugu films before venturing into the Punjabi film industry and ever since then, there has been no turning back. Her proficient acting skills were clearly evident in Punjabi movies like Angrej, Golak Bugni Bank Te Batua and Subedar Joginder Singh, which was appreciated by the audiences and the critics alike.

3. Wamiqa Gabbi: The ever charming and talented actress, Wamiqa Gabbi made her screen debut in the Hindi film Bittoo Boss in 2012. She has received critical acclaim for her Punjabi movies like Dil Diyan Gallan, Nikka Zaildar 3, and Nadhoo Khan. Hailing her roots from the City Beautiful, Gabbi has been brought up in a diverse manner such that she has been able to exceptionally excel in Malayalam, Tamil and Telugu films as well. She made her debut in the Telugu film industry with crime comedy movie, ‘Bhale Manchi Roju’  and Tamil debut with ‘Maalai Nerathu Mayakkam’. 4. Payal Rajput: Channa Mereya fame actress, Payal Rajput is renowned for her acting in Hindi television series, Punjabi cinema, and Telugu cinema. She made her Telugu debut in 2018 with drama movie, ‘RX 100’, and also did cameo parts in an array of Telugu films.

Kainaat Arora: Hailing her roots from a Punjabi family in Saharanpur, Uttar Pradesh, Kainaat made her debut in the Bollywood 100 crore blockbuster comedy film Grand Masti and ever since then, she has been surpassing benchmarks with each passing day. Arora gave a cameo appearance in Tamil movie, Mankatha and marked her Malayalam debut with ‘Lailaa O Lailaa’. Some of her Punjabi movies include Faraar, Jagga Jeonda, and Kitty Party.
