Mar Gaye Oye Loko – the much-awaited life-after-death film starring Gippy Grewal, Binnu Dhillon, Sapna Pabbi, Gurpreet Ghuggi and Karamjit Anmol in the lead roles is receiving a massive response the world-over. Although the film is releasing today, its premiere was held in the day before yesterday in UK wherein the best of the media and film fraternity came over and gave a big thumbs up to the movie.

Mar Gaye Oye Loko’s Australia premiere was held yesterday and simultaneously, at Cinepolis, Bestech Mall, Mohali – another premiere was held which was graced by the presence of eminent stars from the Punjabi film industry.

Now that the film has released, since morning the public is tweeting and posting its reviews about the film which it seems is well-received by the audience. The internet is abuzz with the talks of this uniquely written film by Gippy Grewal and enacted well by the actors like Binnu Dhillon, Gurpreet Ghuggi and Karamjit Anmol.

Mar Gaye Oye Loko is an attempt by Punjabi makers to showcase their idea of heaven. Film’s writer and producer Gippy Grewal said in an interview to Iampunjaabi – “In the past, our industry has had movies which are out & out comedy, but Mar Gaye Oye Loko takes comedy a notch higher, with its storyline hailing its inspiration from life after death to a large extent.”

While Binnu has won the hearts with his daunting role as “Gill Bai”, Gippy shines as the simpleton – Teetu! Hakalchu, (Karamjit Anmol) wins hearts as the modern Yamdoot and Ghuggi – right up in the heaven- gives a captivating performance as one of the opposition leaders in the Yamlok.

Karamraj, played by Jaswinder Bhalla, grips the audience with his well-timed one-liners and makes sure that at no point, the audience is left bored. The emotions weaved into the well-knit plot of Mar Gaye Oye Loko, make it a complete film as opposed to being just another comic flick.

“In the past, our industry has had movies which are out & out comedy, but Mar Gaye Oye Loko takes comedy a notch higher, with its storyline hailing its inspiration from life after death to a large extent.”

The title of the movie Mar Gaye Oye Loko comes from the fact that the characters have encounters with death quite often and it translates how life might be after death.

“Ever since childhood, we have heard about some pre-conceived notions of how life would be after we die and that’s exactly what has kept me thinking since quite a long time now. As the writer of the movie, I gave the wings of creativity to my thoughts and translated the idea of life after death in the most intriguing yet comic manner,” smiled Gippy.

“I think we Punjabis have always carved our own entity and we will persist to do so even after we die. So, the movie is all about Punjabis celebrating the life even after death. I am affirmative that the audiences will love it,” he concluded with a wink.

Binnu Dhillon while making his entry at the premiere in Mohali, expressed his thoughts and excitement ahead of the release to us. “I feel truly honored and delighted to see how amazing the movie has come out to be. It certainly took a lot of efforts on the part of the entire team to make Mar Gaye Oye Loko a complete package for the audience, and now that we all sat together to see the movie, I am affirmative that it will be loved by the audience.”
