Punjab Film Promotion Policy 2026 Unveiled: Massive Boost for Regional Cinema & Mohali Film City

In a major policy milestone for regional cinema, the state government rolled out the Punjab Film Promotion Policy 2026 this August, marking one of the most substantial structural shifts for the industry. The new policy framework is designed to curb production costs and attract domestic and international film crews to Punjab.

Under the framework, eligible film, web-series, and documentary productions can claim up to 25% of their production expenses (capped at ₹3.5 crore), with preferential terms for native Punjabi-language projects. Crucially, the policy introduces a unified single-window clearance portal for on-location shooting permissions and confirms infrastructural backing for a state-of-the-art Film City in Mohali, complete with post-production and VFX facilities.
