As the nation witnessed the New Delhi Police coming heavily down on the students protesting against CAA (Citizenship Amendment Act) at Jamia Millia Islamia University on Sunday, a Sikh man was distributing chai and samosas to the students.
Named Jabarjan Singh, who hails from Bathinda spoke to media persons and called the CAA as the “black piece of law.” He was quoted as saying to The Quint as, “The government should not have even given an opportunity for this protest. It shouldn’t have passed this black piece of law. Students have left their studies and come out to protest.”
He also slammed the police personnel for their heavy-handed behaviour against the protesting students, like it was “no big deal for them.”
“They (police) are people who can even kill people randomly. It’s no big deal for them,” he said.
Calling the CAA “wrong and unfair,” the man, who fed hundreds of students at the protest, said, “The law should have accommodated those persecuted irrespective of religion. It shouldn’t have discriminated on the basis of religion at all.”
