We talk about equality all the time. Seldom do we take some steps to achieve it. This vicious circle which has engulfed humanity and has devastated millions of relationships since forever is all set to face rebellion in the form of White Hill Studios’ short film “Bodh- A Journey Within”
Starring Manav Vij in the lead role, Bodh revolves around the never ending issue of Casteism. Manav became a household name with the TV soap Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi and has appeared in several successful films after that like Udta Punjab, Rangoon, Phillauri & Naam Shabana. He has also done numerous Punjabi films such as Asa Nu Maan Watna Da, Mannat, Burraahh, Punjab 1984, to name a few and now he’s all set to mark his debut in Short Films with Bodh.
White Hill always comes up with something fresh and this time they are here with a strong message to disseminate. After releasing 18 Short Films, they are here with the first Hindi Short Film. The producers Gunbir Singh Sidhu & Manmord Sidhu have always believed in bringing fresh content to the table with Bodh being no exception.
Bodh is a Short Film which breaks all the social chains that stop us from moving ahead and growing as a liberal society. It tells the story of a Deputy Commissioner, Sushil who rediscovers himself after facing oppression and Casteism in the past by a goon “Chajju.” He gets surrounded by the same things again only to realize that it was always “he” who had all the stigmas stuck in the head. Bodh depicts the emotional complications and the existence of estranged relationships because of personal biases. It makes an attempt to curb them and move towards a progressive way of living.
Bodh makes its point loud and clear that inequality, no matter where or in what form shall always remain something unacceptable and deserves to perish wholly, even in thought.
In an extremely subtle way, it teaches a lesson to live by for one and all.
Directed by Sohrab Sandhu, a Canadian filmmaker of Indian origin, it is all set to release on 6th November and will also be showcased in several film festivals across the globe.
