The upcoming Punjabi film, about the distinguished Param Vir Chakra awardee Subedaar Joginder Singh, who is known for his extraordinary courage during the Sino-Indian War 1962 kick-started, today. The film stars Punjabi superstar Gippy Grewal in the lead essaying the role of this great Indian soldier.
To grace this auspicious occasion, The Martyr’ s youngest daughter Shrimati/ Sardarni Kulwant Kaur inaugurated the film’s shooting today.
Subedaar Joginder Singh is remembered as he laid his life for his motherland while fighting at the war front. He was a soldier posthumously awarded the Param Vir Chakra Award for his extraordinary courage while protecting the Indian soil on the Line of Control during the Sino-Indian War of 1962.
The film is being produced by Sumeet Singh of Unisys Infosolutions and Saga music. Directed by Simarjit Singh (fame, Angrej), the movie will trace Joginder Singh’s journey from being a young farmer to a brave Martyr who tackled Chinese attacks at Bum La in Tawang.
“It’s a challenging role — to begin with, I have to lose 10 kilos and then gain 25 kilos to look the part. Also, it’s history that we’re delving into; so, we have to be doubly careful about facts and the way we present it. It’s a massive responsibility to blend in the right amount of emotions, especially because of the current state of affairs in the sub-continent,” Gippy Grewal said in an interview.
The film is slated to release on August 15, 2018.
