India’s one of the most prestigious university, Delhi University’s girls colleges ban sexist rappers like Honey Singh, Badshah, Mika, Raftaar and Guru Randhawa.
Here’s what the student leaders recently said to a Delhi Times.
Keeping in view the obscene lyrics of Honey Singh’s songs Garima Tandon, Students Union President, Gargi College said, “Choti dress main bomb lagdi mennu? Honey Singh’s songs are really offensive. What kind of comparisons are these? Is this how we will have gender equality?”
Student Unions President of Kamala Nehru College, Komal Singh on the songs Saturday Saturday by Badshah and Indeep Bakshi said, “Aati Honda main, audi main jaati tu khisak. Baby what the f***. What are they even trying to say in the song? Are they trying to comment on her character?”
“Laila teri lelegi tu likh ke lele. How can you have songs like this in college? This is why we can’t even think of calling Mika to our cultural fest,” spoke Samridhi Bajaj, from Miranda House College.
The students from the girls colleges of Delhi University do not approve any sexist lyrics in their college fests, and the same translates in this brave initiative taken by them.
