The much-anticipated Diljit Dosanjhj’s debut Hindi film, ‘Udta Punjab’ seems to have landed into big trouble now owing to excessive usage of expletives in the film. The censor board has decided to ban it. Oops…!
Udta Punjab speaks of the drug menace in Punjab and the trailers make it evident that the characters do a lot of swearing.
The CBFC board gave a complete no-permit to release Udta Punjab, citing reason that it has “excessive swearing, abusive language and drug consumption”.
“It’s a normal process and I don’t understand why this ruckus is being created. There were some differences among members of the EC, so we had referred the film to the RC. But the makers have directly gone to FCAT which will now take a decision.” – Censor Board CEO.
Accordign to reports, Anurag Kashyap, the film’s co-producer has decided to knock the doors of I & B ministry and fight via Film Certification Appellate Tribunal (FCAT).
“I would insist with the board to give us an ‘Adult’ certificate. This film has been made for people above a certain age group. This film is adult so we should get an adult certificate,” the filmmaker recently appealed.
It is believed that the decision was taken due to ‘political reasons’ in Punjab which will hold elections next year.
