Yoga is a light, which once lit, will never dim. The better your practice, the brighter the flame gets……The feeling was echoed by stakeholders of the wellness sector and the aura reverberated through the ambiance of Hotel Mount View, Chandigarh, Sector 10 today.
As the world seemed in the perfect mode of celebrating Yoga and people back home were stretching and bending their way through the Indian practice, the mood in the city beautiful seemed no different. A day was dedicated to celebrate International Yoga Day was organized by Invest Punjab ,Govt of Punjab in collaboration with Dr. Gulshan Sharma DG ICSI.
S Balbir Singh Sidhu, the honorable minister of health and family welfare, Govt of Punjab was the chief guest for gracious occasion and the event witnessed the participation of eminent personalities from sectors of wellness tourism and aesthetics, educationists, yoga enthusiasts and fitness gurus from Punjab and Pan India joined in the celebration.
The day progressed with a series of sessions that illuminated the growing popularity of Yoga the world over and its unsurmountable significance in attaining optimum wellness. Experts shared the common platform and exchanged their views and experiences about yoga and how this ancient Indian practice is proving to be a gamechanger for the wellness tourism sector. However, the need for spreading awareness about the benefits of yoga for addressing several health issues was also deliberated upon. Ways and means to spread the benefits further were also discussed during the day-long conclave.
Speaking on the occasion Mr S Balbir Singh Sidhu said” We feel proud to felicitate the universal acceptability and appeal of this ancient physical, mental and spiritual practice of India which symbolizes alignment of body and consciousness. Punjab has been a hub for medical tourism and the practice of Yoga remains the foremost point of attraction for people of a foreign land, who are visiting the city for wellness tourism. You can’t fathom to separate yoga from wellness and the role of yoga towards the growth of the wellness sector. Yoga today enjoys huge enthusiasm from all across the globe and Punjab’s contribution to the growth of wellness tourism remains indisputable.
The conclave also brought to fore the key issues and challenges while the need was discussed to adopt a constructive approach for converting drawbacks into opportunities.
Taking an active part in the conclave was Richa Agarwal R.D, Founder Cleopatra, GC Bwssc, and international Jury for Makeup and Aesthetics- OMC India Skills. As Richa represented wellness and aesthetics sector, she elaborated the significance of Yoga in enhancing aesthetics while combating much health hazardous. She said,” With regular practice of yoga one can possess a flawless skin and youthful looks. Yoga is a natural beauty enhancer and if you are hooked to the practice you will not feel the need to opt for artificial ways of enhancing your beauty. By incorporating practices of yoga in your daily routine you can ward off many health issues. Yoga remains a perfect way to lead towards the alignment of the body-mind, self, and intelligence. Richa highlighted these points during the conference while also raising pertinent questions on the subject.

Illuminating the occasion with their gracious presence was Mitali Johar, Mrs. Chandigarh and joining her were Fitness Guru Vishal, ace nutritionist Ritu Pradhan and wellness experts from Thailand, all of them seemed upbeat about taking part in the day-long conference and echoed their experiences and opinions about Yoga.
In addition, to dedicate the day in the name of Yoga, DR Gulshan Sharma DG ICSI the organizer of the event also presented vital input on bringing Punjab on the world medical tourism Map and improving infrastructure. Preparedness of associated departments in ensuring smooth management for tourists was also discussed and possibilities to tap the potential and means to plug in the loopholes were explored too. Sessions on capacity building, future growth, skills, and training roadmap was discussed in depth.
